Just got a new chapin 110° nozzle. Works great for my two gallon pump, but I clearly don’t know how to use it.

I count at least six dark green lines.
I mixed MSM with 10 oz of Ammonium Sulfate in an attempt to spray out the rye and encourage the Bermuda.

I’m assuming the dark green is where I missed the rye?
Should I just leave it alone and keep mowing at 1 1/8”?
Let this week’s heat do the rest?

Should I be worried about watering the TifTuf? I laid it on 6 April.

I have since bought blue spray dye…

I’m gonna venture to guess the dark green is actually where your spray overlapped and the double dose of N is causing the dark green.

If you just sprayed this within the past few days, that is almost certainly the case because it usually takes >1 week to start noticing any signs of plant damage after spraying MSM Turf.

Thank you very much. That was my initial thought, then I convinced myself otherwise.

I do think it’s more likely that I overlapped than left huge gaps.

Considering adding iron and more AMS, but don’t want to get too cute and make it worse for the health of the grass.

Damage is done. You should move.

Do you use a Scott’s spreader?

I also suck at spraying so I use marking dye. It helps, especially when spot treating.

This is what I usually use, I think it's basically food coloring. It leaves your yard looking like some smurfs got busy on it for a few days but it washes off with the first rain. If you get it on concrete the stains are gone after 1 or 2 rain showers.

I use the whirl now with a smaller yard. The Scott’s spreader works great if you speed walk or jog

First thing I thought, too
The dark streak in the lines looks too consistent

Could be rye, could be fert. Don't try to fix it. You'll only make it worse.

Brother, if you are complaining about your yard, I envy your life. Because that thing is a beaut and you must have no other problems to be mad at that….

Just trying to make the most of my favorite hobby! But yes I aim to be content and grateful. Good perspective.

Honestly if you are mowing that short it’s hard to understand why you would even need herbicide. I do get it, and your yard looks great, but with that much mowing it won’t be a problem for long.

I suck at spraying too, but most of that has to do with the heat and bad timing.

I just didn’t want that PRG sticking around another day. It’s surprisingly resilient with consistent rain, and it releases some kind of toxin in the soil that prohibits bermuda establishment.

After an early morning watering I saw that the dark green is indeed rye.

Several hours after mowing at 7/8” I mixed 2.5 oz of FEature, .15 oz of Primo Maxx, 10 oz of 20.5-0-0, and about 1/16 tspn of MSM Turf (if that).
All of that diluted in 1.5 gallons.
I used some blue dye, but I don’t think I used enough.

It’s clear that I either walk too slow, keep the pressure pumped too high, or need 2 gallons of water. My Bermuda area is just 900 square feet. Would think 1.5 gal should be plenty..?

Notice that the low mow essentially took out the Rye.

Very small dose of MSM:

If you laid Tiftuf on 4/6, did it come seeded with rye from the sod farm?
Anyway, ryegrass will succumb to the heat within the month, especially if you’re mowing the height that Tiftuf should be mowed at.

Yes, unbeknownst to me until I finally admitted to myself that TifTuf can’t be that pretty.

Other clues:
It wasn’t your typical bermuda morning dew.
It was striping too well
It was growing too vertically

I’m with you on the low mowing, but decided to spray it out anyway. Didn’t want it popping back up if we got a ton of rain.
