Dallas ended up with the #1 pick….
Pelicans end up with # 7 pick….

Dallas had ~ 38 wins
Pelicans had 21 wins

Dallas gets 50% more wins than we do… and our pick is 7xs worse.

Its understandable that one crazy thing like Dallas jumping everyone can happen..

But I would love to see what the odds are for Dallas to get 1, Spurs to get into top 3, and 6ers do the same (meaning they keep their pick)

How do three teams jump the entire bottom 4?

I think someone posted it was a .000187 chance of those three getting that order.

You woukd never ever see that combination on tankathon

Good Lord, people have to get past all of this eventually. It's a lottery, shite happens. They made is to discourage tanking, which is what ended up happening. It shouldn't be this much of a shock.

I'm not going to say I told you so, but this was always a possibility. Shutting down the team (and Zion) to lose more was never guaranteed to pay off. I guess it was worth a shot, but it was a waste. Live and learn..

It was a rigged lottery. They choose the top 4, they have every year.

Are you that naive (or just playing the "contra" shtick still)? Someone posted that the chances of the lottery turning out the way it did with the top 3 picks was less than .02%. That is not a coincidence or just "shite happens."

And it's not every year. But they do put players in places for sure. They put Zion here as part of the trade for AD.

I'm not so much upset about Dallas as I am the Spurs and 6ers

Spurs already rumored as a Giannis destination, now fall arse backwards into a pick they can dangle for him

6ers were completely fricked because they had to give up their pick. Instead they luck into keeping it

The odds of all three of those teams winning the lottery in that way are just so ridiculous that it raises too many eyebrows

It's just sour grapes. I just listened to Lowe, who was in the room when they drawed. He's not screaming a conspiracy. The owners voted for this. They wanted flattened lottery odds and to punish tanking teams. It's what happened. Yeah, it's crazy odds, but so what? That's why you don't bank on the lottery.

We had a whole thread on this a couple of months ago. I said we'd get 6, cause that was the best odds. People whined and added ranges together to justify their positions. This is not a surprise or shouldn't be. They aren't going to shut down the league because of it.

I get being upset, but we have to move on at some point. People keep creating new threads saying the same thing. These aren't even basketball fans, much less Pelican fans. It's just bitching to bitch or chicken little the sky is falling BS. Just accept it or quit watching..

If it’s on the up and up why doesn’t the nba allow public viewing via tv or even YouTube of the drawings? All we get is a card saying where everyone is drafting. They could easily fix the conspiracy talk of the lottery that has plagued them for decades by being transparent but they haven’t. Why?

Trust me….
“Naive” is not an accurate word.

The word I would have chosen would be much more… demonstrative directed towards intellect.

21x 2 =42

So Dallas did not get 50% more wins than the Pelicans did.

Math be hard baw.

Teams still tank. They will no matter what they try to do to stop them. The actual result of them trying to stop something they can’t stop is keeping bad teams bad and rewarding middle of the pack teams. If parity is the point of a draft order, they are failing.

The top 4 should be between the bottom 4.

And some teams just suck arse. Like us. Not even necessarily trying to lose every game.
So you take away parity in the league by dragging us, Utah, and Washington down. Creating an even more top heavy league.
Want to stop tanking? fine. But have the lottery between the bottom 4 only. A play-in team shouldn’t be in consideration. Re-number the draft order from 5 on up based on record.

And the 4-team lottery should be live-streamed, no breaks or cutaways, logo on the ping pong balls, for the country to watch.
Not this mickey mouse shite they do behind closed doors then post it to YouTube after.
