Considering getting one and becoming a backyard pizzaiolo.

The Ooni gas ovens look to be reliable and easy to use. I'm interested in the flavor of the wood-fired ovens though. Ooni offers ovens which can be heated via gas and wood, so I may opt for that.

There are other major brands out there.

I also have a Weber kettle and I'm interested in the "Kettle Pizza" attachment. However, I am struggling with paying more for the attachment than the kettle itself.

I welcome anyone's input.

I have the Ooni pellet version (COVID purchase). Works great but would probably get the gas if I went and bought one today. Admittedly the novelty wore off after a while and havent used it in a couple years. That said, if I built a new outdoor kitchen I would definitely consider space for a pizza oven along with a boil pot and grill/smoker.

To the point of your OP, I was and am still happy with the Ooni name brand and just about everyone Ive talked to that has one says the same.

I got pizza attachment for my Masterbuilt Gravity Smoker, but honestly, I don't use it much. I do prefer it over home oven as I can get a closer to New Haven coal fire taste, but it's more when I want to put a lot more effort in.

Home oven pizza is my go-to, it just so easy and fast. I make a bunch of dough and have it ready for busy nights where we don't have much time to make a meal. Do it right and it's not that much off the attachments/ovens unless you are looking for a Neapolitan style. Not a big fan of that style myself, I prefer NY myself.

Weissman did a great video on home oven a month ago, Charlie Anderson has a whole series of videos for it that are great.

I have a gas Ooni. It’s fun to play with but tbh you can get the same results with a oven and a good pizza steel

I got a Big Horn pizza oven which is essentially an Ooni knockoff. It goes on sale on Amazon every now and again so I got it cheap. It’s good.

I ended up getting an Ooni gas attachment which makes it a lot easier to use than the wood pellets. There’s a facebook group for the Big Horn; they have posts about how to attach the Ooni gas attachment. I didn’t want to spend the money on an Ooni and use it only a few times. It’s worked out well.

I have the Weber kettle attachment. You will also have to make or buy an additional heat reflector to sit on top of the kettle attachment, so consider that. That’s the only flaw with it, but it can be easily fixed. You’ll also need to get a pizza stone.

Overall, I’ve only used it a few times over the years. I like it, I just don’t cook pizza that much.

I have the kettle attachment as well and it’s unnecessary if I’m being honest. All it does is move the heat even further away from the top that you want browned. I don’t even use it anymore and just use the baking steel with the normal kettle lid.

I've had the kettle pizza for about 10 years. It's pretty badass and makes great pizzas. I also won an Ooni recently, and I really like that too. If I had to pick one, I'd probably go Ooni if you have the space for it.

ETA: My Ooni is not the gas version. It runs on charcoal and wood chunks.

I have the space for an Ooni, but I'd prefer not to get one if the Kettle Pizza is any good.

Do you have any pictures of pizzas you cooked with the Kettle Pizza?

Had the Ooni that burned wood, but switched it to gas.

Probably like most people, I don't really use it that much, but it's a good product. I suspect if I had a permanent spot for it and it wasn't chaos trying to make pizzas with three little kids it would get used more. I do like it and don't regret getting it.
