Bet you didn’t see this coming!

But the nation's leading pharmaceutical lobby on Sunday pushed back, calling it a “bad deal” for American patients. Drugmakers have long argued that any threats to their profits could impact the research they do to develop new drugs.
“Importing foreign prices will cut billions of dollars from Medicare with no guarantee that it helps patients or improves their access to medicines,” Stephen J. Ubl, the president and CEO of PhRMA, said in a statement. “It jeopardizes the hundreds of billions our member companies are planning to invest in America, making us more reliant on China for innovative medicines.”

The pharmaceutical industry has argued that Trump’s attempt would give foreign governments the “upper hand” in deciding the value of medicines in the U.S.

… they would have to accept higher prices in order to make us pay more.
Not much an “upper hand”

They’re such slimy dickheads that anything they’re against can almost assuredly be considered a good thing.

I guess you're going to have to raise the rates overseas and lower the rates in the US and find the happy medium.

use the presidents EO to force foreign governments to abide by the US Pricing or not accept the medicines....
Just because foreign governments are price controlling US meds doesnt mean US should pay the higher costs.

Interesting part of this is 80 % of American drugs are manufactured out side the US. the equalization will have to be done in the transfer pricing from say India to the US. Another layer of confusion over Insurance, medicare, pharmacy , retail , whole sale etc pricing.
this should be accomplished by opening up the end distribution to generic and new producers. Allowing the average end user to access Canadian, India, china, Pakistan suppliers by mail is the only workable solution

It will definitely help patients in the short term. This is the type of tone deaf response that you’d expect from Big Pharma.

If this is a step towards making PBM's suffer and ultimately bankrupt......it's worth all the pain they deliver to Big Pharma.
