This is fantastic news!! Technically its not mandated however the EPA built the rule to give “green” and EPA credits to car companies for having it. Since car companies want to sell pickups or other vehicles with bigger motors getting bad mileage they did the stop/start to help their EPA ratings meet minimums.

Now it appears to be going away thank goodness. Hope they fix gas cans next.

People don't understand the efficiency and advantages of a well tuned small block in a sedan.

Every car I’ve seen - you can disable it. So I’m not too outraged at it.

Let the progs use it. Rest of us can turn it off.

This seems meh.

The question is how does someone permanently disable it? I have asked the dealer to disable at purchase and they said there is a way but we cannot do it and won't tell you how.

We just bought a new car. Today I forgot to press the disable button and the car shut off at the stoplight. WIfe flipped out that our new car already broke down.

That feature barely saves gas in the grand scheme of things,

Agree. Got my wife a new car. Bought a deal from Range to disable that crap along with keeping it in V8 mode all the time. Done this within a few months after purchasing it.

I fricking hate that thing. Its in my routine now, that button gets pushed after pushing the start button, automatically.

On my wife’s telluride, it was an aftermarket module that plugged into the harness for the auto start stop button. It cost $100 and works flawlessly

But it does wonders for the replacement starter motor industry.

right?!?! I was curious if this actually does anything advantageous? seems like it would be tough on the starter and battery more than helping gas mileage by slightly lowering RPMs for a minute or two.
