Edit:

Original post:

Disney has done virtually no advertising for this show, and apparently it premiers in a month.

I had no idea what this show is about, so I googled it

quote:

Riri Williams, a brilliant MIT student and inventor, as she creates her own high-tech suit of armor inspired by Tony Stark. Set in Chicago, she faces a dangerous technological threat and grapples with the challenges of being a young, black woman in a male-dominated field, ultimately embracing her role as a hero.

Sounds terrible

It’s set in Chicago, so I hope Obama makes an appearance and tells her to use her black girl magic

I’ve never understood this idea that Americans won’t accept a black superhero.

Most of the posters on this board were prime age for the Dream Team. They were like basketball playing superheroes and we weren’t all cheering for Stockton and Laettner.

This has been finished and ready to go for a few years now. The fact that Disney has sat on it this long means even they think its bad.

Hopefully they release it all at once and get the bad press over with.

"Honestly, the primary thing—this is probably the one and only thing that I hoped to impart—was that she didn't have to look like a traditional genius or a traditional hero, and that she was neither of those things. She was first and foremost a young Black girl. That's it. That's also everything. Then I think it becomes a much more interesting ride to then see how this young black girl, who is also from Chicago and from the South Side, engages with the mysticism of Talokan. Then it becomes more interesting to see what it's like for someone to confront and enter into those spaces, knowing that is her experience. That's the thing that tethers her through everything, and everything else now just becomes another opportunity for adventure."

LOL
