Yeah I can't watch it when they pan to a guy staring at a screen. I enjoy it for catching crappie, but not for bass.

Said it before, allowing it upholds a longstanding tradition of being shortsighted by tournament organizations. They’ll get paid by the companies that sell the things, who will sell some units, but the majority of viewers find this as compelling as watching paint dry so the organization and professional sport will continue to tread water.

All the Randy Blaukat's of the world weighing in of FFS

I agree the TV isn't as good, but like it or not, they are playing within the rules and catching the heck out of them.

I don't use it, but I don't blame a guy making a living trying to catch 'em for using it. You'd be dumb not to if its within the rules.

I don't blame the guys using for using an extremely effective piece of tech within the rules.

I don't hate on guys for using it personally.

But it is not for me and it makes horrible TV.

So it has 'ruined' televised bass fishing for some. Ok, but that's not actually fishing. Every single piece of innovative technology has produced the same debate. Some love it and some hate it but eventually it becomes a normal part of the equipment. GPS, umbrella rigs, side imaging, spot lock, have all 'ruined' fishing, but we keep fishing, and bitching.

Fishermen are the bitchiest group of people that I have ever seen.

All of this is true and the reason it will be eliminated at BASS in the near future

Business decision.

Out of the posters that hate watching professional fishing because FFS has ruined it. How many of you watched the MLF Red Crest tournament?

I've about had enough of watching it. I live on a lake with a brushed dock. And the local semi-pro fishermen come and LiveScope my dock to look for fish in brush that I put out there to attract bass and crappie. And consider I also have underwater dock light that attract fish more. On a 5000 acre lake with perhaps 20 docks with lights, they LiveScope these docks to decide to fish around the lights that were put there to attract fish.

I have LiveScope. But I don't use it to find fish around my dock.

Do you catch and release for crappie? Since they are sitting ducks, I catch and release over 90% of what I catch.

I don’t get the intense hatred some of you have against FFS. From a TV viewership perspective, the only thing different with FFS is where the angler’s eyes are looking. Does this really bother y’all that much?

Look, I have no dog in this fight. I do not use FFS. I don’t even own a boat. If I did and I had the money to buy FFS, it would be a no brainer. Why would you not buy something that is going to make your time out on the water more productive and enjoyable?

I personally know a lot of people that have it and they all absolutely love it, mainly because of what they’ve learned from it about fish behavior.

This is going to piss people off, but why not just be honest about why you don’t like it. Correct me if i’m wrong, but it seems there are only two logical reasons: you either a) can’t afford it or b) don’t want to put it in the time and effort to learn it.

If you already have a standard sonar unit on your boat, why don’t you view that as “cheating”?

the same thing can be accomplished with side scan. people have probably been side scanning your dock for years with the same purpose.

I went to a local lake for the first time this year yesterday afternoon. a couple piles were loaded. Released about ten then went home due to a combo of wind and severe tennis elbow in the right arm. I might actually have to hold the rod in my left hand for a bit.
