Shoot them motherfrickers. Saw another story in Chicago where the homeowner moved in with the squatter, and negotiated a $4,300 cash settlement for the squatter to leave. There aint no way that squatter would get cash from me.

I just have no sympathy for anyone still living in Chicago.

He even tried moving in to run them off.
They definitely deserved some street justice.

If I'm a frequent/professional burglar I'm carrying around a lease with the address blank.
If cops show up, I write the address in real quick and claim I live there.
Pretty much the only difference between breaking and entering and squatter is the squatter claims he has a lease.
"sorry, this is now a civil matter, peace out. Do you like my new ink?" - LEO everywhere.

Congress? This is a state/local issue.

This is a truly horrible thing to say without elaborating on the obvious underlying questions: what weapon, caliber, distance to target, bullet, ballistic coefficient, weather, and a general mention of spindrift and corealis.

I've been seeing these stories for a couple of years now - and I just don't understand how it happens.
Does it ONLY happen to unoccupied properties, where a person notices nobody lives there and just moves in?
I just do not see how it can happen to a property that is being inhabited.
Seems like the cure for unoccupied property is due diligence in monitoring it.
My dad was responsible for checking on a pretty large swath of land back in the 40's - the owner was a company from California and the timber had all been cut, but they needed someone to patrol the property to guard agains "squatters." I was about 7 years old when I first heard that word.
As I recall, if a person occupied the land for 7 years unmolested, he could file 'squatters rights' on it and it would become his (or perhaps gave him legal permission to with some rental compensation)
BUT - if my dad found someone there all he had to do was call the sheriff and get him removed.
That is the sum of my knowledge about squatters - and it made sense to me for 80 years.
All this crap about coming back to your house and finding someone living there with no way to get them out just seems as if some facts are not being told. Even in this day of idiotic 'rights' I do not see how this can actually exist.
I know if it happened to me, they'd have to call the coroner instead of the sheriff to remove them.

I would bust out a window and send in a couple of well trained Rottweilers or German Shepherds.

I’ve seen more than one story of it happening while people are away on vacation.

You don't kill people for this. The anger is justified but killing someone for squatting is not.

That there is such a thing as squatters' "rights" in the first place shows you just how fricked in the head liberal theology is right out of the gate.

Well, I would have realized there was a bed bug and roach infestation and scheduled a house fogging treatment. May need 1-10 attempts at remediation……

They are stealing your domicile and your way of life. Yes, if you cannot get them to leave voluntarily then you have the right to drag them out in a body bag.
You're a dumbass and a pussy.

Lots of instances Ive read. Go on vacation, go on a long weekend, etc. Person moves in. You call the police and the person says they live there and rent from you.
From that point its a civil matter not criminal so it has to go to court, which could take months.
Here in Trinidad, a supposed 3rd world country, we have a national ID. If this happened here, the cops would ask for your ID and if it did not match the address they would haul your arse to jail. And if you came up with some nonsense about you just moved and your ID did not match......they would haul your arse to jail for falsification of national ID.

So - you come back after a couple of weeks and find new cars in your driveway and strange dogs in the back yard = your keys to the house don't work anymore.
= All your possessions were dumped on the street?- or are the new occupants just using them?
= Neighbors are ok with your replacement? didn't notice? like them better?
= You call the sheriff & he says - "that's your problem - go get a lawyer"?
I just cannot conjure up a rational scenario where this could possibly be a 'thing' - sounds more like it could only happen to untended, vacant properties.
simple minded me

Really is theft, and shows how evil and immoral people on the left are.
