Sports- Lanny James
News- Judy Waggoner
Weather- Jack McCall (LP&L) with Freddy
Don't seem to remember Jack getting the weather forecast right very much. This was before meteorologist degrees.

Channel 8 was our CBS channel growing up, but we didn't watch news and weather because it wasn't "local" local. Having said that, I do seem to remember that crew with teasers during primetime when I was young.

And June. I remember when I moved to Monroe trying to figure out how she was ever on TV.

If this guy showed up at your door, you knew an indictment was around the corner...

I also remember when the KNOE tower down in Columbia fell. I believe it was the tallest tower in North America?

John Denison,
John Roa was excellent. Roa is now a practicing Criminal Defense Attorney in Monroe. Pretty cool.
For a small market, KNOE had excellent reporters. Guess there was plenty to report on.

Are your department was fired.. he caught my great uncle and his crew for a week straight with the truck parked in Booker T neighborhood doing nothing.., they didn’t get fired because it’s the city of Monroe.., they were transferred to the another department to do same thing

Used to for sure. Now days is just retard college kids, dei hires and mush mouth Jennifer Andrews. Aaron Dietrich still does a solid job with sports though.

I grew up to KNOE & I am glad I did. Lanny James was as smooth as you could get & Freddy told me all I needed to know about what to expect with the weather that day.

I remember Lanny and Judy, but don’t recall Jack.

We ran into some old VCR tapes from my grandparents house. They lived on Ft. Miro. They had a local reporter for KNOE TIffany Kenny who was reporting on the floods in (1989 IIRC) standing in the water. She's now the anchor of our local ABC affiliate in West Palm. Seeing that old footage was a personal mindblown.

There was one taller in Louisiana.
Back in 1988, the owners of WCKW (?) and KHOM (Ray Saadi) bonded together and built a 2000 foot tower in Vacherie. That was before KHOM was sold to Clear Channel and WCKW was sold to a Cumulus or another entity before coming under the Cumulus umbrella. They created 2 powerhouse FM signals that were able to be heard from the Mississippi state line to west of Lafayette. Now, the owners of the two stations could care less about how bad their signals sound due to the lower transmitting antennas and other changes in the radio business.
Hurricane Ida took the tower out.
