His flight is in 30 minutes. There may be a policy about allowing someone to check-in that close to flight time. Obviously, the workers handled it horribly, but that is probably the cause of the argument.
Google says Frontier has a 60 minute policy.

Does frontier let you check in by phone or on a kiosk?
Is he trying to check a bag 30 minutes before wheels up?

I have a feeling it's this. There are rules about how soon before the flight departs when you can check in. I bet he missed the window and is pissed but it's not their fault.
However, they are completely unprofessional and trashy.
