CNBC Interview

Dude was on there to talk about the stock market and goes off on the possibility that AI will be the end of humanity.

I don’t think the tech that tries to guess the next words as I type this has any chance of destroying humanity. Don’t believe the hype.

Tudor. He's originally from Memphis, nephew of Billy Dunavant and learned commodities trading with Eli Tullis from New Orleans. Hedge fund guy, my first cousin worked with him for a few years before starting his own currency hedge fund.

Then you are an even bigger fool that you've already proven yourself to be on here.

You are completely correct about Y2k.

But that was all code which was fixed (as in hard-coded). But here's the issue (as shown in fiction), you can't 'debug' well what is constantly changing. There is no longer source code to refer to, as to why that breaker was closed or opened.

When we trust (and our tech companies will push it as a marketing tool) AI as a feature.... 'Can operate at a much faster, predictably, repetitive nature than a human' then we have a potential for problems. They will put it in EVERY self-driving vehicle, hell-- let's get the FAA field tests going to 'augment' pilots..

The next thing you know, we are living in the world of War Games WOMPER or Forbin's Colossus, where everyone produces study after study, we will be safer.

Until we aren't.

It will make 'liberal logic' look like Spock.

Goodness. Fortunately, Jones is wrong as often as he's right. I surely hope this is the former.

It is only a matter of time if not already happened that someone has or will create a self aware AI model with learning capabilities. That is the beginning of,the end of humanity.

Maybe, maybe not. It will be an alien intelligence. We have no idea how it will perceive us. It also doesnt have to be necessarily self aware to pose a massive threat.

I wonder how this compares to chances of a nuke destroying humanity back in the 40s and 50s.

AI does seem like it needs to be aggresively controlled before it's too late. It feels like we're living in a reckless, wild west era that won't end unless something very bad happens
