No clue about other degrees but my industry cannot hire enough civil engineers. New grads, experienced PEs, we need em all. I work in water infrastructure.

Kids today can barely change a tire. They won't be burning rods in the plants on their first day.

Poverty is a strong motivator. I get it though, everyone likes to think “they’re different”

College isn’t educating kids on the right careers. Giving kids a 100k loan for a liberal arts degree in gender studies is absolutely criminal. We need to prioritize STEM.

Having said that, if you can weld, can pass a drug test, and live in the New Orleans area you can get a job yesterday.

A real answer you become an early adapter and get in early before the next major wave when masses find out. You gain seniority and skills through experience that allows your job to be protected.

Unemployment among recent college grads is part of total unemployment.

I’m not understanding how part of the total exceeds the total.

I assume it has something to do with the bogus formula the government uses to calculate unemployment.

Edit: maybe they’re using “eligible for unemployment benefits” as the total unemployment figure, and all college grads in the unemployed college grads calculation. No, I think RohanGonzalez is correct a few posts down.

It is because a majority of recent graduates are entitled pricks and/or can't pass a drug test.

Total percent unemployed minus percent unemployed of recent college grads (not sure how that is defined).

It's percentages.

The unemployed recent grads/total recent grads ratio is larger than the overall unemployed/total people ratio.
