Would you rather live in Madison, Mississippi or Midland, Texas?

The two places are not really comparable at all, but I thought it could be interesting.
If you were making the same amount of money which would you pick?
How much more would it take to bring you to midland? (I assume the COL is lower in Mississippi)
Assume no family connection to either place, and your family lives in the middle.

Madison by a mile, Jackson is a third world shithole but Madison is a nice suburb and good location. Midland is nothing in middle of nowhere

Madison, especially if you can afford to live on the Ross Barnett

Madison big time.
I lived there after college for a few years and still have a lot of friends there. It’s a great place to raise a family.

People who think Madison is far-and-away the best town in MS have never been to the Mississippi Coast nor have they been to Desoto County or the college towns.
Also, What a strange comparison OP.

Madison isn’t bad from the time I’ve been there. Still too close to Jackson for me but Midland-Odessa is expensive as hell and out in the middle of nowhere.
I’d think quality of life would be better in Madison.

I have lived in DeSoto County, Starkville, and Oxford for 20 years. Madison would rank second out of the five, behind Oxford. DeSoto County and the Coast have a lot of trashy pockets and people.

Madison may not be the nicest place in Mississippi, but it is one of the nicest, cheap places in the entire country, from what I can tell.
Anything comparable to it in Texas is full of trash, Yankees, or is a lot more expensive.

Billy Bob Thornton seems to prefer Midland

I live in Ridgeland, about a mile south of the Madison city line. Would absolutely stay here vice moving to Midland, TX.

I have lived in both towns (still live in Madison) and it is not even close.
ETA: I have lived all over the country and Madison, Ms is the cleanest and safest place I have ever lived.

Madison.
Midland’s cost of living is really high and the climate is one of the worst. Dry, windy, and dusty. Also the more educated people typically don’t live there. They fly in on Monday for work and fly out on Thursday afternoon.
