Was just wondering the last time LSU won the regular season title in baseball.
If I looked at things correctly, it was in 2017, LSU went 21-9.

Since then: (wins, final place)

2018 - 15, tied for 7th
2019 - 17, 5th
2020 - COVID
2021 - 13, tied for 8th
2022 - 17, 4th
2023 - 19, 3rd
2024 - 13, 7th
2025 - Currently tied for 3rd with 15 wins

Just a bit surprising that LSU hasn't even finished runner up in SEC standings in the last 8 seasons. (Florida and Arkansas both won 20 in 2023, so maybe 19-10 was sort of runner up up?)

Not sure anybody's catching Texas this season, but a runner up finish would help offset the lower RPI, I would think? 20 wins would definitely be an accomplishment in this year's league.

Here's hoping the bats rise from the ashes and a little Box magic for the weekend before hitting the road against a 5 win team to finish strong.

Given the last 4 NCs have been won by SEC teams and NONE of them were the SEC reg season champion, I'm ok if LSU doesn't win the SEC title this year.

Conference titles are meaningless in a super conference
No one cares who wins sec in baseball
Go ask Arkansas what they would rather have

They aren't meaningless at all.

They just aren't necessary to reach the higher goal.

I disagree. They get a ring for that.

It's upsetting that the conference championship has been devalued more and more. It used to matter a lot

Correct. A super regional exit with a conference title is better than a super regional exit without one. However, you’d still want just one title in comparison to no titles and multiple conference titles.

2024 Tennessee SEC & Nat’l Champs
2019 Vanderbilt SEC & Nat’l Champs
2017 Florida SEC & Nat’l Champs
2011 South Carolina SEC & Nat’l Champs

The past 15 seasons have produced 8 SEC national titles. Half of those times, the winning team also won or shared the SEC Regular Season title. The latest was Tennessee last year.

2023 LSU, 2022 Ole Miss, 2021 Miss State, and 2014 Vanderbilt are the title winners with no regular season SEC title in the past 15 seasons.

The gap between 17 and 20 wins is “that’s baseball” margin

And 25 wins meant nothing to the 2022 Vols after Notre Dame kicked their teeth in for the Knoxville Super

Give me a solid team that gets hot in May/June over a win total

The conference got better and there was no need to burn through all arms in double elimination games starting at 950p on a Thursday.

Maybe things change now with new formats, single elimination and double byes.

Speak for yourself. It’s still a very much valued accomplishment to most still. I wish LSU could win the regular season title because it seems like it’s been a while since they have accomplished that.

Now SEC tournament I don’t give a flip whether they win that or not. The conference tournament is really more of a nuisance to the top teams than helps them.

18. Regional final (ok meh) lost to NC
19. Hosted Super
21. Won reg at Oregon, lost Super

Slightly better than meh
