BREAKING NEWS: After meeting with Nick Saban and U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville, President Donald Trump is now reportedly preparing an executive order to reform college athletics and fix NIL.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Saban told Trump the current NIL system is "damaging" college sports. Trump agreed and directed White House staff to start drafting a plan.
Both Saban and Tuberville spoke to Trump last night ahead of his commencement address to the University of Alabama on Thursday. U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville flew on Air Force One with Trump to Tuscaloosa.
“Had a great conversation with President Trump last night about the importance of establishing national standards for NIL,” Tuberville said.
Former rivals on the football field, Tuberville and Nick Saban might have just teamed up to save college sports.

Uh oh.
Nick had to appeal to the POTUS for player safety.
Now he’s going to unretire himself.

I wish nick would run after Trump.

Saban wants the old ways back. The ways where he could pay players under the table and get away with it but other programs get titles revoked for giving players free lunches.

I would probably vote for him. He just gets it.
Thought zero chance he runs obviously.

The last thing I want is the federal government to be involved in college football. I don’t care who’s in office.

Yea.. let's keep it the wild wild west
When your awesome starting QB or RB dips out on your team because another school offers them $8million than your school can afford - let's keep that tradition going. It is wonderful and amazing for college sports!
In fact.. how about this? Let's go ahead an call today's college sports Mini Minor League where they make the big bucks... then start a whole nother' level of college athletics where nobody gets paid but athletes get a 100% free education with 100% food, rent, etc.

Nick is majority owner of the Mercedes Benz dealership in Birmingham. “Cha-Ching!” has always been a key component of Sabear’s process.
Tariffs Push Mercedes To Expand US Production: Mercedes to Add High-Volume Model to US Assembly Lines…
Trump administration tariffs are pushing automakers to consider heavier US-based production and assembly options. Mercedes-Benz is taking a committed stance.
Alabama probably isn’t the first place you think of when you hear the words “Mercedes-Benz,” but if you’re familiar with the brand, it might not be far down the list. Tuscaloosa, Alabama has been home to Mercedes-Benz production for nearly three decades. The new tariffs on imported autos and auto parts have automakers scurrying to find workarounds and solutions. In Mercedes’ case, it’s bringing assembly of what the automaker calls a “core segment vehicle” Stateside...

Or schools and the NCAA could tighten up the transfer portal back to the way it used to be. Mutli-year contracts for scholarships and NIL money could also be considered.
Not sure who all is downvoting my comment about not wanting the Feds involved in college football, but for a political board that is supposed to be conservative or libertarian leaning, it's pretty surprising. When is more government the answer - especially in college sports?

He should go to another SEC school so he can have national championships from 3 different schools.

Which is mostly Nick Saban’s fault. He created an arms race in college football.

No not really, just call it like it is and enjoy it

I would have sympathy if the coaches didn't jump jobs for better contracts.
