I was laughed at and downvoted for saying this was a PII(personal identifiable information) violation in the main thread.

I still don't understand why the kids made the video public. Just post the audio.

Where do you reckon all that money goes? I mean when the league fines a team or something like that does goodell just pocket it like the piece of shite he is?

I might be the outlier here. Why are they fining the Falcons for this?
It quite literally has nothing to do with their organization.

Most college aged kids today are so stupid. They can’t have any fun anymore without getting clout on social media.
I’m so glad social media was in its infancy when I was in college. We all would have been in a lot more trouble.

So this was a violation of federal or state law?

And you wanted to relive those memories of being ridiculed?

I chuckled when I first saw the video but thought it was kind of messed up. Shadeur is a douche but not like he's a criminal.
But I'm pretty shocked there was a fine this large. I didn't expect any kind of punishment

From the Falcons quote on this, it appears that maybe they didn’t have internal policies regarding protecting this information.

In terms of what the US considers PII and data privacy laws, yes it is.
Chat GPT:
PII (Personally Identifiable Information) refers to any data that can be used to identify a specific individual, either on its own or when combined with other information. It is commonly divided into two categories:
1. Direct Identifiers – Can identify a person on their own:
• Full name
• Social Security Number (SSN)
• Driver’s license number
• Passport number
• Email address (if it includes name or is unique to a person)
• Phone number
• Home address
• Biometric data (fingerprints, facial recognition, iris scans)
2. Indirect Identifiers – Can identify a person when combined with other data:
• Date of birth
• Gender
• Race or ethnicity
• ZIP code
• IP address
• Employment information
• Education records
PII is protected under various privacy laws depending on the country (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California, HIPAA in the U.S. for health data).

Yep. With a Google Voice phone number and just releasing audio, the kids could have gotten away with a successful troll job and stayed anonymous.
Now they got pops in trouble with his employer and cost him an entire month's worth of pay.

Ulbrich’s son got Shedeur’s number from an open iPad used by Ulbrich. I assume it might have been a team issued one that contained information for draft prospects. So the fines stem from that and the “failure” of the Falcons and Ulbrich to protect that sensitive info.

Hilarious that people use ChatGPT as some sort of arbiter of truth on anything when it is constantly wrong.
