Why do American Jews support the left so much despite this?

Numerous posters in this tweet are asking the same thing. And several “Trump needs to stop this posts” despite the fact that they didn’t vote for him or support him.
I just can’t figure out why so many Jews are such leftists, despite the lack of support for Israel from the left and the support of Israel by the right and Trump. I’m almost to the point of “frick those Jews, they voted for this.”

Because American Jews have no attachment to the state of Israel and don't see their religion as some transcendent trait.
Simple, really. American Jews are largely rich urban dwelling liberals. They just happen to be ostensibly Jewish.
That said, I'm not Jewish and I have no attachment to Israel either. Israel should do whatever is in its best interest. I don't give a shite whether Israel exists or not. Its up to Israelis.

I understand why you feel this way, because you live in Latvia and believe that European socialism is a sustainable model. And it is, for Europe. It also could be for the west generally in a perfect world. But the majority of the planet lives elsewhere and does not in any way share our values. They never will and you can't fix them.
In that context, European-style socialism only sows weakness and subservience.

Can’t put them in a box really. The couple Jews I personally know don’t seem to care about Israel.
Public figure sorts are a different story. Half are Israel first neocon warmongers, half are America hating communists. I’m sure most everyday American Jews are in neither of those categories and they lean slightly left or right for various reasons.

My understanding is religious jews are conservative and secular jews are progressive, on average at least.

Maybe because a lot of Jews don’t believe in or agree with the idea of Israel as a nation and its actions?
Zionism and Judaism are two different things and from a purely religious standpoint, the existence of Israel as currently implemented is against Jewish religious beliefs.
Just because a bunch of Europeans that happen to be Jewish decided to hijack the religion as cover for taking over others’ land doesn’t make it true to the religion.
This is a huge issue in propaganda and the false “self-hating Jew” push.
It is hilarious to me how you all attack blacks that call out fellow Blacks that tend to be more conservatives or anti-left as Uncle Toms, yet a Jew being against Israel and called a “Self-hating Jew” is okay.
In the end, if you have issues separating the state of Israel from the religion of Judaism, that is on you, not Jews.

The same could be said about why so many Christians support the left despite their hate of Christianity. Progressivism becomes the only religions for those that fall into it, it's like a cult. The other identities fade or are pushed back to being less important.
