Jeremy Wade really makes it. The depth he goes into like interacting with local community every episode, diving into the water to trap a fish one episode as a likely 50+ year old man.

You can really tell that it's not about the money at all to him, and that it's his sole love for fishing. If there's a Louisiana episode you know of, I'd love to watch. Alligator Gar could fit his bill.

The first time I ever saw that show I binge watched like 20 episodes in a row. Great show.

I love river monsters. One of my favorite episodes is “the goonch”, a large catfish in the Ganges river in India. For some reason it’s a hard episode to find. I think it was a test episode, and they later added it. I can pretty much skip over anything N. America, and just focus on the stuff in South America and Africa.

Didnt this show "end" because he basically caught everything there was to catch? That might be the most baw thing ever.

Also, if you love this you will love Chasing Monsters with Cyril Chauquet. That guy is awesome and his show is pretty funny.

Yep. He caught every large freshwater fish in the world. I honestly thought he should've just kept going haha he couldve re-done some of his earlier fish.

Great show. I’ve watched it for years. He definitely overdramatizes things a bit but the show has a great quality that makes you want to watch.

At the end of the show’s run, he posted a message that he’d caught all of the river monsters and had nothing left for show material. All of the ones you’re seeing now are reruns.

Season 1 Ep 2. I have almost every episode on my DVR, but for some reason they never replay that episode.

There's only XX amount of freshwater creatures that grow into large sizes. It can't be a long show.

I cant watch any of those shows anymore. They are all set up. You have no clue how fake swamp people is. Anything on that channel is extremely dramatized.

River Monsters was one of the exceptions to the rule.

it was dramatized to have enough build up to meet the basic plot points but it was really just an excuse to watch his fishing knowledge in action and hear the local legends

They did 9 seasons and Max has like 3 of them, which is weird since it was always a Discovery show.

I think he only killed one or two fish during his entire tenure, one the people of the village took to cook.

I think it was the first he actually filmed maybe a year before others, and ,like you said, they call it episode 2. It’s a great episode. You literally watch his shirt disintegrate through the episode. Also has a massive freshwater snapping turtle.
