Consumer confidence is slipping nationally, but Houston takes No. 1 spot

HOUSTON — Consumer confidence remains high in the Houston metro, though it fell slightly to start that year.

In fact, the Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands metropolitan area ranked No. 1 in consumer confidence at the end of the first quarter. That's according to the inaugural Metropolitan Consumer Sentiment Index, a new quarterly data set that will offer exclusive visibility into consumer confidence in Houston and 45 other major U.S. metro areas. American City Business Journals, parent company of the Houston Business Journal, is partnering with global decision intelligence company Morning Consult, on the MCSI.

The consumer confidence comes as the Houston metro leads the nation in two-year gross domestic product growth and has the lowest inflation change among major U.S. metros. The region is also one of the fastest-growing in the country.

I have three new McMansions going up around me where they tore down the old house. It's booming in my part of town.

Close, Oak Forest. OG houses across the street, next door and two houses down have all either been torn down and rebuilding or recently purchased by builders to tear down and rebuild.

No ULL grad has ever actually owned a real home in nice part of River Oaks.

You do realize that the governor that you people elected is a ULL grad right?

Ike Taylor, Peanut Tillman and Jake Delhomme can’t afford to ever live in River Oaks?

You sound like a total d bag.

I’m not sure I like that example.

Fuk Houston and everything about it.

It’s flat and ugly, tons of pollutants in the air with south Louisiana type weather. For your extra bonus you get insane traffic, and same types of trashy people to deal with.

No thanks

Except it is a city that just turns my soul into a raisin…

Salute the confidence, though! Sincerely.
