Any fans here? I remember listening to them first in the early 80’s in my early teen years and thought of them as more of a New Wave band the way they were marketed on MTV. I was more into 80’s metal/hard rock like AC/DC, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Dokken, Scorpions and never was into them that much. Recently started listening to their early stuff and they sound like a hardcore punk band. I wish I would have paid more attention to them back in the day.

Saw them around ‘79 and again two years ago. Great shows both times. They are very underrated.

They've certainly stood the test of time spanning multiple genres.

First concert I ever went to was Cheap Trick. The Dream Police tour.
While my tastes in music swayed throughout the years, new wave, alternative, prog rock, heavy metal, I've never stopped listening to them.
Really looking forward to seeing them at JF, last time I saw them, weather shortened the show

One of my all-time favorite bands... Ive seen them quite a few times, but the last time in 2023 at The Metro in Chicago was incredible!
Listen to the Steve Albini recorded version of In Color... This captures the essence of the band WAY more than the original recording..

I've seen them 3 times in three different decades. Always fun. I had the privilege of seeing Bun E. Carlos each time.

They have to be up there for most concerts performed by a band, no?

Saw them live in 1984. Uriah Heap opened up.

My best friend during/just after high school, (who was killed along with another good friend in a car accident we were in when we were 19), bought 2 tickets out of the WaPo classifieds, (which was typical in 1978), for $7.50 ea. for Rainbow / Cheap Trick / Foghat @ the Capital Centre.
When we got there the night of the show, we made a couple laps around the Concourse trying to locate our seats, to no avail. Wondering if those seats even existed, we approached a couple of ushers, and after looking at the tickets one of them said "Follow me". We got on an elevator and went for a short ride up, then a short walk, the usher handed us back our tickets, and then opened the door to our shared Sky Suite.
The concert was awesome, by the way.

I absolutely adore Cheap Trick. I remember being around 11 and seeing the photo on the back of the "Dream Police" album sleeve, of Rick with the checkerboard Hamer, and thinking to myself that is absolutely the coolest guitar on the planet.
Here's the closest I've gotten to it so far ... I'll get to get a pic of me with it one day, I just know it.
I handed the super custom just-for-RN pickup below to Rick shortly after I took the above photo. Rick's tech reached out to me months later and said they both loved the pickup and would be hitting me up for more next time they were in need. Bucket list check!

Spring Fever at NLU back in the day. Probably mid 80’s. Otis Day and the Knights opened.
CT rocked.

Night Ranger was also on the bill. The outdoor area was as muddy as Woodstock.
