With the final games of the regular season 4 days away time to start looking at coach firings. We’ve already had two, and I’m betting there will be at least 4 more including Willie.
I believe Phoenix will fire their 4th coach in 4 years also, but the FO will somehow stay the same because Ishbia is close friends with them.
Coaches Fired:
Memphis: Taylor Jenkins
Denver: Michael Malone

If tweet fails to load, click here. This should get everyone fired, maybe even the owner too.

He still has two years at about $100m left.
That would be either two years of a $50m hit or five years of a $20m hit. Which is a HUGE chunk of cap space.

Should Willie be fired? yes, obviously. However I will believe it when I see it.
And...should Griffin be able to hire his 4th coach with zero playoff wins under his tenure? Obviously not.
But, again, I will believe Griff is gone when I see it

I’m 100% confident Willie is gone. You don’t alienate Zion and CJ and keep your job.
Griff I’m 50/50 on, I look at this roster and know it should have been competitive and challenged last season’s record taking out the injuries.
Even with the injuries though we should have been at minimum a 30 win team IMO, and that falls on coaching. I’m also one to give a mulligan on Gentry, we had way to many issues to work out that offseason without adding HC to the list, so it made sense to keep him for a year.
SVG was the right coach at the wrong time also, he meshed well with Zion but not BI and Hart.

I don't see us firing both Griff and Willie.
I can see Griff firing the coaching staff to keep his job

I agree with you, but of course the question is...why?
Why does Griff get to stay on and the people he hired (again) are let go?
Its absurd obviously but we know the answer

Other coaches on the hotseat:
Budenholzer
Rivers
Nurse
Donovan
Christie
Hotseat if they have disappointing playoff run
Thibodeaux
Donovan
Finch?

Does a buyout save any money on the cap? Is the purpose to get the player to accept less than the full value of the contract?

only if Beal signs elsewhere for above the minimum then the buyout team would get an equal offset

There were some reports coming out earlier in the season, before the wheels were completely off, that made it sound like Griff was angling to get tight with the players and kinda build a "it's all Willie's fault" kind of narrative that everyone could fall back into

And Beal either can’t get over the minimum or won’t because it isn’t going to help him much.
Better to rehab his value at the vet minimum than hold out for a few million while getting $100m for free from Phoenix.

Injuries ain’t Willie’s fault.
Shitty decisions and misuse of players who went on to succeed elsewhere? That’s on Willie.

This is why he needs to be fired.
He has no calling card. He had one good play-in run and ever since then it's been failure after failure. Offense is too rigid. Defense is lacking this year. Can't adjust to players.

A couple of those coaches will be scapegoats for bad FO decisions, like Finch.
Minny sent out KAT for Randle in a money saving decision but it impacted the product on the court because he doesn’t fit.
I’d take Finch back if he were available.

I hope this Phoenix team is the last time that any GM thinks it's a good idea to have 3 perimeter isolation scorers as your best players. IT NEVER WORKS.
Bron and Wade wasn't even historically good together. Still great and Bosh was a great 3rd option who could play a role, but that much talent on 1 team should have been good enough for 3+ rings. I would have much rather had Wade and Stoudemire vs Bron and Bosh from 2010 going forward (STAT was coming up on the 7th year after micro fracture surgery, most players always needed surgery again after year 7).
KG, Paul, Ray was the best way to mix stars together. All of their games fit with each other. None of their skills collided with each other. They were already older though, if they were in their primes that team could have won 4-5 rings.
2 superstars and a role playing 3rd guy is the best way to build a dynasty. Especially if it's a slashing guard and a big that can pop and hit a jumper or roll and finish.
