How did the boot store on Florida Blvd in front of Cortana survive this long?

Everything else in that area has either closed down or changed to a different buisness. I am always surprised how the boot store always has cars there throughout the day everytime I pass down Florida Blvd.

I think that location opened in the 80's but The Boot Store opened sometime in the 70s. It's actually a pretty well known boot store and people come around from all over. I think they even had like ~15 stores but I am pretty sure that is the last one open. Not sure if the old man owner is still there or not .

My cousin met Willie Nelson one day when she used to work at the Boot Store. He'd stop there any time he was passing through Baton Rouge.

George Waggoner was the original owner of ‘The Boot Store’ and has since retired and sold the business to Tracey Simmons. Waggoner started ‘The Boot Store’ in the mid 70’s with the first store in Baker. In his career, he has owned 12 stores, and ‘The Boot Store’ on wheels.
“I started here in the middle 70’s and opened up a store in Baker, where Becky Calloway went to work,” Waggoner told UWK. Becky Calloway was the manager of the Baker store until it closed and then managed the Baton Rouge store until she decided to retire. In all, she says she worked for Mr. Waggoner for 45 years.

In the many years that Waggoner owned the store, he also owned, ‘The Boot Store on Wheels,’ a store that he drove around to various plants in Louisiana and sold boots from.

Some companies (plants) have a yearly boot allowance for employees... and The Boot Store is one of the authorized retailers they use.

I went there once and tried to buy these gorgeous Crocodile Skin boots, but the guy wouldn't sell them to me. Said they were specially crafted for a famous actor.
Then this tall grey haired guy walks in behind me and said
"These boots... were made for...Walken."

Hobby Town is the one that baffles me. Horrible location that services a hobby that has been its death throes since the 70s.

That’s probably a big reason. How competitive are their prices otherwise?
