Sadly, GT struggles with attendance. They averaged 1,200 fans per game in a 3,700 seating capacity stadium (2023 season stats). Campus location isn’t the greatest since it’s near downtown Atlanta

I’ve never met a Ga Tech fan in my life. They have tons of Asians that go to school there and move back.

I've been there for a regional. It's a great college baseball stadium and setting. One of the best

College baseball just isn't as popular here. In Tech's case, the Rusty C is pretty right-sized.

Was in town for a conference a couple years ago and went to an afternoon game and I thought it was awesome. The surrounding area is nice and sat behind home plate with the skyline in the background. Really enjoyed it but there was like no one there.

Tech is the definition of an alumni-exclusive fanbase. They have not attracted sidewalk fans since the mid90s. They draw students from across the country (and every small town in Georgia, too), but the lion's share of their alumni also disperse across the country for work.

Known lots of GT alum, and their story is pretty similar. From some small Georgia town, top of their class, then move away to run a civil engineering firm or a plant or something. Fiercely loyal, but don't have a ton to brag about athletically.

How can that be as Georgia is thought by many to be the mecca of youth baseball?

Once all the Jaxtyn's and Jagger's don't make it their parents sour on the sport.

UT had a similar location, except the stadium inexplicably is facing the wrong direction.

1) UGA was doing well until our old AD decided to sit on his hands for the better part of 15 years while the rest of the SEC developed minor league+ stadiums and identities. Georgia home games have been sold out and packed the last 2 years with the on field success under Wes Johnson so interest is obviously there, we just squandered years of it.

2) The state of Georgia has the Braves. Other states in the footprint are Braves fans but more feasible to just go to the local college stadium and once or twice a year to a Braves game. Baseball families here are usually going to choose attending a Braves game over a college game 9/10 times

Amazing how so many posters on this board (and especially SEC Rant) can't get it through their heads that college baseball isn't a major sport.

I love college baseball and have for most of my life. But I guess it takes living in drivable distance of an MLB stadium to understand that I’m in the minority opinion
