I’m assuming all this rain from Arkansas up into the Midwest is going to find the way into the MS River then head south.

Are we going to see an April opening?

And what will this do to spillway crawfish prices?

It’s supposed to be pretty dry ip there for the next week or so. With no more rain on the way they know how much water there is and the current crest predicted for New Orelans is 15.7 ft, below the 17 ft needed to open Bonnet Carre.

I’m hearing they’re going to have to open the Morganza spillway too.

What are those feet measuring? The river is much deeper through N.O. Are those feet above sea level?

There are three feet to every yard, nine feet to every cubic yard. So an acre-foot is nine cubic yards on one-ninth of an acre. That is what they are going by.

Got it?

How many feet a river is doesn’t have anything to do with how many feet deep it is. That number is related to elevation or flow rate.

It is closer to 200 ft deep in New Orleans. They are talking sea level.

A few years ago the recordings were under 3 ft and saltwater was pushing into the river.

The river is going to do what God wants it to do. No prediction agency can supersede that.

If God invented Math he gave us the tool to know how high the river is going to get.

You’re spot on except for the whole man made levee/spillway system thing that was built to control what the river “wants” to do

Yeah.

They've been thumbing their noses at the Almighty for going on 90 years. Got dicey in 73, but they are still winning the battle.

They'll ultimately lose, and when they do, it's gonna be bad.

I'd say odds are they've fricked up more things than they've improved

Sucker bet.

Chevron just got tagged for $1.2 billion (including legal interest) because of the Corps.

Politicians will not flood their hunting properties. That's why it's hardly been opened. 4 days of rain is hardly enough to think about opening it. Forget about crawfish, what about the beautiful speckled trout in the lake?
