Bruce Feldman (The Athletic) has the Saints selecting OL Will Campbell in round 1

I believe the article is behind a paywall, so the players he predicts will be gone by the time the Saints pick are Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, Armand Membou, Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker, Mason Graham, Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter

9. New Orleans Saints: Will Campbell, OT, LSU
Drafting a cornerback would make sense for the Saints, but Hunter will be long gone, and this seems too early for Michigan’s Will Johnson or Texas’ Jahdae Barron. Helping new coach Kellen Moore by bolstering the O-line is a good alternative.
“He’s pretty nasty,” an SEC D-line coach said. “He’s got heavy hands and will get after people in the run game. Sometimes he will get off-balance in pass pro, but he’s impressive. I could see him starting for the NFL at tackle for a decade and making a team very happy.”
Campbell, who’s from Monroe, La., ran a 4.98 40 with a 1.76 10-yard split to go with a 32-inch vertical and 9-5 broad jump. Some may take issue with his arm length — measured at 32 5/8 inches at the combine and 33 inches at LSU’s pro day — but he won’t look overmatched on the edge in the NFL, according to the coaches I’ve spoken to.
“He’s a special talent,” an SEC defensive coordinator said. “I wouldn’t worry that his arms might be a half-inch or inch shorter than some people would like. He’s athletic enough, quick enough and nasty enough to control the pass rush. I think he’s a complete player.”

I personally would love it. He could play G this year then possibly replace Penning at RT next year and man it for a decade.

Same here. I'd love Will Campbell at #9

The Saints could almost pick any position and it would logically fill a need.

I don’t hate the pick but I wasn’t overly impressed with him this year. He talked and talked about how they would compete for a championship and they had the best OL in the country but his grades went down without Jayden and he had 9 penalties last year.

If this is the case I’d rather then take Warren. Campbell comes with a ton of questions. And this idea of just moving him to guard and someone even said Rt is pretty wild. Im not taking someone at 9 who has these questions with arm length to play tackle and im not taking a guard at 9. This draft is loaded with interior guard olineman.

+1 for Will Campbell
Franchise tackle at 9 is stealing money

Some of ya’ll are overthinking this lol. Campbell at 9 would be an amazing pick. You HAVE to build the trenches up on both sides.

A really good offensive line can make any offense look good. Hell look what it did for Sam Darnold

That was HOF GM Jim Finks mantra for draft day. You take the big guys early and get the little guys later in the draft

He’s at least a good value at 9. I think he’ll be fine at LT. Move Fuaga to RT and penning to lg.

One of a couple can't miss pics.

I don’t disagree. There’s never been a tackle in the nfl that has his arm measurables. He has a lot of questions. It’s why people are mocking him anywhere from 5 to 15. Some see him as a guard. To act like he’s a can’t miss prospect cause he went to lsu is ridiculous

He's just a can't miss because he can be great for nine plus years.

If he fell I’d love it. Let him and Fuaga compete for who eventually is where.

Hell yes. Plug him in at LT and either kick Fuaga inside at LG to make a nasty left side of the OL in Campbell, Fuaga and McCoy or let him go back to his natural RT and tell Penning he’s got to learn to play guard. You have Will Clapp, Landon Young and maybe Saldveri as insurance but I would also take an interior OL sometime in the middle of the draft in case Penning can’t make the swap.

Fuaga’s arms are an 1/8” longer than Campbell’s

This mindset provided a nice era of winning for the Saints but the lack of talent at the skill positions lead to losses in big regular season matchups as well as in the playoffs. The offense never had enough fire power to get over the hump against better offensive teams despite the defense being one of the best in the league at that time.
Finks help put together one of the greatest defenses in history in Chicago before coming to New Orleans yet outside of Walter Payton, the Bears offense was below average. It lead to team split where the defensive players blamed the offense for the team's short comings. The offense finally caught up with the defense in 1985 & the rest is history.

That really isn't much of difference. Plus the majority of mocks are done based on the aspects of fit & need. It's all an educated guess.

Didn't know everyone associated with the NFL draft process were LSU fans.
