Looking for a lab. Primarily family dog with some hunting. Would like the health checks. We have an autistic son so looking for more patience and lower energy. Thinking of English or British lab. Saw red rocket kennels in new Iberia. Thoughts? TIA
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

We bought a puppy from Mossy Oak Kennels to be a service dog. He came with every paper work, promise, guarantee I know of. They ain't cheap but I think the rascal was born retrieving tennis balls and stealing shoes.

Same here, my first true Lab that wasn’t a mix. Got him in November of 2023 at 9 weeks old. He will wear you out retrieving anything you want to throw an he has a sock fetish I believe. 100% the most stealthy animal I’ve ever seen when he’s wanting to sneak off with a sock.
He’s very smart but goofy as hell, 92lbs now and still acts like a 6 month old puppy which is very difficult to deal with at times, but I love that knucklehead and wouldn’t trade him for anything

Check out Magnolia Creek Labradors if you want an English! Beautiful dogs.
We bought an English from the Mandeville/Madisonville area 18-19 years ago. Best dog ever. I don’t think the lady is still breeding dogs.

One of the best dogs I’ve ever had came from wildrose in Oxford, however my best dog which I currently have came from a backyard accident. It’s a crapshoot. Call and talk to the kennels and find out which one fits you and your needs the best.
For me personally, I don’t need a field trail champion or any of that shite, I just need my dog not to break and pick up dead birds, I also like docile, now that I’m an old frick I don’t have time for a high energy dog haha.

From Mossy Oak? They breed/imported British dogs. It weighs 92lbs?

I can't reccomend this guy enough. He uses smaller British labs and they are far more calm than the American breed. He's in Somerville, TN. Here's his website:
https://www.duckhillkennels.com/
He's also the guy that started Wildrose Kennels in Oxford but sold it to the current owners. He's probably one of the best trainers out there.

My neighbors have two left from a nine-pup litter. AKC registered, both males. The sire is as good-looking lab as you would ever see, the mother, a chocolate, she ok. They aren't breeders, this was a mistake that happened.

Red Rocket Kennels is Snooks Sorrel. The name comes from the Fox Red Lab, which he specializes in.
I have seen some very good dogs come from his kennels.
