Louisiana Election- All Four Amendments Fail

And all look to fail handily. Landry pushed them; Murrill really pushed them.
What are we to make of this? Does Jeff still have a handle on things?

For those of us that live in the hills? What 4?

Gov. Jeff Landry issued the following statement regarding the failed amendments:
"Amendment 2 was a chance to permanently lower the maximum state income tax rate, double the tax deductions for residents over the age of 65, create a government growth limit, provide a permanent pay raise for teachers and school staff, maintain the homestead exemption and protect religious organizations, keep more tax dollars in local communities, allow for the elimination of inventory tax, and protect against special interest tax breaks.
“The primary goal of Amendment 2 was to create a better opportunity for our citizens. To work towards inviting people into our State rather than have them leave. Unfortunately, Soros and far left liberals poured millions into Louisiana with propaganda and outright lies about Amendment 2,” said Governor Landry. “Although we are disappointed in tonight’s results, we do not see this as a failure. We realize how hard positive change can be to implement in a State that is conditioned for failure. We will continue working to give our citizens more opportunities to keep more of their hard-earned money and provide a better future for Louisianians. This is not the end for us, and we will continue to fight to make the generational changes for Louisiana to succeed.”

Because there’s way too much word salad in those amendments for anyone to read and comprehend in the voting booth. Not to mention people in general do not trust slimy cocksucking politicians no matter their party affiliation

Libs were waaayyy too against these amendments for it to be a natural occurrence

This seems like a lazy excuse. Did I miss him selling it to the Louisiana public before the vote?

Did Jeff ever really have a handle on anything?

People are sick of being ripped off and lied to. Gambling was supposed to fix education and pay for teachers but the slimy bastards stole the proceeds and gave it to the state troopers. I vote no on everything related to education. They already have the money, just put it where we voted for it to go initially.

Extremely lazy. He didn’t do shite to sell these amendments to the public other than a text
Message and some add I saw on IG touting them. Maybe they should make the amendments about only one thing. Not multiple issues all lumped together in one big confusing
Proposal? And they definitely should do a better job explaining what they do. First I heard of them was this week. Weak effort by the proponents of #2.

I agree with your post and the post that you were responding to.
One of the problems with these amendments and most bills for that matter is that they include many items that should be "stand alone" items. If a bill or an amendment addressed just one thing, people could evaluate and better understand them. Most of these amendments had multiple things crammed in.

Big failure by Landry. Time to cut teachers salary

Since Amendment 2 failed that was going to lower income tax, are they going to lower the sales tax that they just raised? LA is a fricking joke.

Which of these amendments had anything to do with injury lawyers?

People in Louisiana are so dumb at the ballot box. It's shocking.

Dems saw an opportunity to draw a line and Landry / Trump have probably pushed a little too far.
Amendment 2 was controversial, the other 3 were not, and all failed.
Need to have a real constitutional convention ,

1, 3 & 4 were garbage.
2 was a mixed bag, but it's biggest problem was that it was a "kitchen sink" amendment. This thing was broken down into 6 different sections covering well over a dozen different changes.
Voters simply don't trust things like that.

This is exactly it. We don’t trust politicians, so seeing a jarbled mess of lawyer speak meant to confuse the average voter is enough to say no thanks.

This was clearly a huge issue with Amendment 2.
Only a brainiac like Landry would think the way it was presented was good.
Amendment 2 was really 4-5 amendments offerings. Trying to cram them all into one was idiotic.
The only thing more retarded than that is blaming Soros.
