Charleston in July

New Orleans humidity, but likely hotter. We were there once in early June when the temps were over 100 and humidity was dense. It was unbearable. You would walk around at mid-day for an hour, and you could wring out your shirt. I've never been to SE Asia, but I imagine it was close to what you would get there.

Been there in July. Very hot, but I'd do it again—fantastic city to visit.

You will love it! Great couples vacation spot. Will be hot but you will still have a good time. Just pack light clothes.

Charleston is a beautiful city, but July is going to be utterly miserable, you will be ringing out your shirt by 10 AM

It's always crowded spring, summer, and fall.

One general suggestion...many people stick to the historic district for their dinners, but there are some phenomenal places a bit off the beaten path.

Among them, on the peninsula:
- Vern's
- Costa
- Chez Nous
- Chubby Fish (no reservations here)
- Leon's (less fancy)

For Vern's and Chubby Fish, Elliottborough Mini Bar is a great place to get a beer or wine while you wait for your table.

The islands:
- Obstinate Daughter
- Acme Lowcountry Kitchen (haven't been here yet, heard it's awesome)
- Coda Del Pesce (haven't been here yet, heard it's awesome)
- Chico Feo (less fancy)
- Jack of Cups (haven't been here yet, heard it's awesome)

Obviously a boatload more, can recommend some if you're looking for a certain type/style/vibe.

You don't need to get there at 4 to wait in line that long, especially if you're going during the week. You can get there at a quarter to 5 and when it opens the line moves quickly.

They will likely seat the entire place before you get to the front but when you do get up there you'll get either 6:30 (if that's not fully booked when you reach the front) or 8. If both times are open you can pick whichever you want, and then you grab drinks wherever until your reservation. If you're willing to invest that bit of time in line it's definitely worth it.

I should've mentioned, the owners just opened Seahorse right next door, for pre-dinner cocktails and bites, but apparently that place is also amazing and now gets its own line.

It's as hot as anywhere - I'd still go. I live in Columbia, so its only a 2 hour drive - but the wife and I go almost monthly for a night away when the grandparents are up for a night with the kids.

It's a great weekend getaway.
