I will probably see this because of the director and cast but honestly after watching the trailer twice I have no fricking idea what the movie is about.

I've heard it's an updated version of the Thomas Pynchon novel Vineland.

Yawn.

Another movie where all the women are talented, smart, and flawless while men are silly and sit around and wait to be told what to do.

Yeah, after reading the plot synopsis for that novel on Wikipedia, that sounds a hot mess and a hard pass for me.

all of pynchon's novels are a hot mess . they made us read gravity's rainbow in college and it damn near made me quit. vineland and inherent vice though are basically comedies

The last Pynchon novel PTA did was Inherent Vice. A personal favorite of mine, it's a fantastic movie.

That looks amazing.

That tailer looks like a grownup mashup of Wes Anderson and Tarantino.

I've tried reading Gravity's Rainbow a couple of times and quit fairly early on. Mason & Dixon is equally inscrutable. The Crying of Lot 49 was good. Inherent Vice is a great book and an easy read and re-read. The movie is basically like a stoner Chinatown. Inherent Vice, The Big Lebowski and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood form a nice Los Angeles stoner noir trilogy.

if you’ve read all those you’ve read more Pynchon than 99% of the planet. Kudos

Pynchon is one of those writers that people claim to be a fan of because they think it makes them sound smart

His writing is insufferable

Inherent Vice is excellent, book and movie. Beyond that, I wouldn't say I'm a Pynchon fan.
