ESPN Ranks Nuss as #3 QB for 2025

Only behind Cade Klubnik and Drew Allar (strange). It's on ESPN+, but here is the write up on Nuss.
3. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
Vitals: Senior, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds
2024 stats: 4,052 passing yards, 29 TDs, 12 INTs, 64.2% completions
Why he's ranked: I'm a bit surprised Nussmeier doesn't generate more national buzz after the season he had in 2024. LSU didn't have its most talented or consistent team and he still became one of only six FBS quarterbacks to eclipse 4,000 passing yards. He's the only one of that group to return in 2025, which will mark his second season as the Tigers' starter but his fifth in the program. Nussmeier's numbers for passing yards, completions, passing touchdowns and total offense marked the most for a first-year starter at LSU.
What they're saying: An SEC coach called Nussmeier "an elite player," adding that he's probably the conference's best returning quarterback. Another SEC coach noted Nussmeier's passing yards total and said, "He's going to cause a lot of problems for teams."
"He has really good pocket awareness," an SEC defensive coordinator said. "I wouldn't say he's an athlete in the pocket, but we thought he had good enough movement to extend the play to get it downfield. We thought his strength was his decision-making."

He’s better than both of them

Drew Allar is trash.
Maybe he has a big year this year but if they are basing it off last year then that’s bullshite.
I guess there’s a case to be made with Klubnik but Nuss really is a better pure QB than both of them.

It's not that crazy. Drew Allar statistically isn't that far off. Nuss just had a bunch more pass attempts. Allar is hyped up for the same reasons as Nuss, his physical talent.
Allar:
262/394 - 66.5%
3,327 yards
24 TD 8 INT
153.5 QB Rating
302 yard rushing
6 rushing TD
Nuss:
337/525 - 64.2%
4,052 yards
29 TD 12 INT
142.7 QB Rating
-38 yards rushing
3 rushing TD

Incoming shootout week 1. One stop by either defense is probably going to win that game.

If Nuss would run a little, he might win the Heisman.

If Nuss would run a little, . . .

Allar plays in an offense that would make Les Miles smile
The Allar hate is ridiculous. Outside of his RBs his weapons are pretty awful.

one of these plays against real defenses and two of them play against juco defenses.

Allar also played 3 more games last year
Big 10 championship, + 3 CFP games (-1 because Nuss had a bowl game too)
Allar has all of the physical tools, and more, but he wasn't great in big moments. Go look at his stats in the CFP games. His completion % was 54% and ypg was ~144.
Nuss had his bad moments too. Without question. But I would still trust him in the big spots more so than Allar. Nuss is going to make some WTF throws (hopefully less this year). But he's not afraid of the big moment...at all. It's those guts that allow a QB to make the throw he did on 4th and end of the game vs. Ole Miss. There is a reason that LSU, with very little running game, was #4 in the nation in 3rd down conversion %. He delivered a lot through the air when LSU had to have it.

Is this as an NFL prospect or best QB in NCAA?
Probably agree if it’s NFL projections.
Best QB in NCAA next year?
Heisman odds
Manning +700
Nuss +850
Klubnik +1100
Allar +1300

Allar had one of the top TE’s in the nation last year.

He did a little bit in the OU game, also Hilton was a reliable deep threat on a couple of TDs in that game too so hopefully something clicked there going into this season.

Nuss did that with zero downfield threat with Hilton out most of the season and no running game. He lost 2 linemen and had a freshman center. He will own almost every lsu record in passing after this season. The only one he won’t is passing TDs in a season. If he goes far enough he will get Burrows single season yd record.

Drew Aller might be the worst QB in the power 5

LSU has lost all of it's opening games under CBK. Versus Clemson at their place is probably the most difficult opening game under CBK's tenure at LSU. I'm so tired of LSU losing their opener.

This probably has a lot to do with what teams they play on. No matter how good he plays, it is very unlikely that Allar will be a legitimate Heisman contender from strictly a numbers standpoint.

Allar's production will be severely hampered without that beast of a TE he had in Warren.
there were certain games where Allar didn't complete a single pass to a WR, just straight up reliance on Warren and RBs.
it worked well enough for them in 2024, but i am pretty sure that isn't gonna be enough in 2025. Though his RBs are good as hell, Allar needs a safety blanket that's not going to be there.

Allar's arm strength is medium at best.
