Screwed over a good part of the state by pushing for Interstate 69 go through the Shreveport area instead of through the center of the state.

Johnson was a long-time member of the Senate. The original (or, at least the first) plan for 69 was to come down through LA along HWY 165 from Bastrop to Alexandria to Lake Chuck where it would connect to I-10.
Johnson was from the Shreveport-Bossier area so the change in the I-69 route to where it goes through Louisiana in only the Shreveport-Bossier area has always been laid at his feet.

When I was a kid, my grandparents took me to an Astros game in Houston. He was in the room next to us at the old Astrodome Holiday Inn.

Louisiana would’ve been legendary with I-69, though we’d probably need a toll just to pay for all of the stolen signs.
