I’m going in a few days. They have a huge menu. What should I order?

Never been there, but used to love going to Louis Lipps' Crab Trap back in the day. As for Frenier Landing, I've heard mixed reviews.

Yes. From there and eat there regularly when in town. Never had a bad meal. Live music in the bar Thursday through Saturday. Great place to eat good food and pass a good time

Friend,

quote:

Louis Lipps' Crab Trap

The recent best soft shell crab post was remiss in not mentioning this shack of a restaurant, even if it is no longer there. Peavine’s initially sourced their crabs from Lipps before he opened his own camp up as a restaurant. Those were as fresh a soft shell as is possible, often being served within an hour of the crab shedding its shell.

Frenier’s Landing, though, is not nearly as good as Middendorf’s.

Yours,

Middendorfs is just aight.

Their thick catfish is better than the all breading with some shaved fish.

We used to have a company Christmas party there.
Really nice place with a great view. Hidden gem.
They used to do (maybe still do) a whole flounder fried on the bone topped with crabmeat stuffing.

Whatever you imagine after reading that, multiply it.

that is how I feel about the food but last time I went there were so many mosquitos in the parking lot they were visible and there was a snake in the parking lot. That made it more memorable.

This is what I was coming to suggest. I've been 3 times and got the flounder all 3 times. Crawfish Mac is pretty solid too.

I like Freniers better that Middendorfs.

What about the fried catfish platter? Surely can’t screw up fried fish and fries.

Heck I’m coming from the only place for fried fish is Culver’s. So if it’s half as good as it’s said here I’ll be fine.

Should be good. Keep it simple and the food is fine.

The food doesnt suck. They just dont season it. At all.
