The Jason Bourne Franchise is being shopped. Apple and Netflix are in the mix

WME is shopping the rights to the spy franchise and the rest of the Robert Ludlum library on behalf of the late author’s estate.
The goal is to find a new home for the franchise and make the superspy a more regular presence onscreen. Bourne last appeared nearly a decade ago in Jason Bourne (2016), from Universal and producer Captivate Entertainment, which manages the film rights for the Ludlum estate. It is too early to say if longtime star Matt Damon would be involved in the new iteration.
Skydance, Apple and Netflix are said to have met with the estate for the rights. Universal, too, could potentially win the rights back if it made an attractive bid.

The Bourne move comes as the land rush for IP intensifies, with fewer and fewer known properties up for grabs. Amazon, in recent weeks, took control of James Bond from producers Barbara Brocoli and Michael G. Wilson.

I liked the one with Jeremy Renner.

I agree, I don’t want to see another movie. A series could intrigue me though. Similar to how they have done Jack Ryan and Reacher.

It has run it's course. Put it out to pasture and develop something new.

At first watch I didn't care for it but a second time around it got better

Renner does a fantastic job as a spy or hidden government agent. The movie was decent with action and Weisz character not overly annoying. My issue was the main plot with the "chems" being used to give the people in the program enhanced performance capabilities. This was never mentioned before in any other movie before or after. This was a big mistake to introduce to the audience in the 4th movie even tho there was no direct tie in.

A series could be really good if done right

This is what I am hoping for. In the right hands, this could be a really fun series

Jack Ryan series is not the same as the books. I've been a huge Clancy/Ryan fan since the Hunt for Red October came out, and then read the books a few years ago. Jack Ryan the series characters are nothing like the book.

I didn't mind it because it felt like a later development.
I was reminded of the movie Soldier with Kurt Russell if you've seen it. The first generation of soldiers are just highly trained and then the second generation are genetically engineered.

It's been 20 years since I read the books, but Bourne movies that actually follow them would be interesting.
