Good for that family. The nba is a falling product… it’s going to price itself out of business soon.

It's clearly not about the money when you can toss 6 Bs out there like it's nothing. I'd probably buy a team for the hell of it if I had that kind of money laying around too

ETA: also the ROI for the Celtics, one of the most storied programs in sports, will be fantastic. I get the NBA is dying, but it's still the Boston Celtics we're talking about. It's not like they bought the Utah Jazz

Compare what NBA teams were worth when during your so-called glory years of the 90s to what they're worth now.

While you're at it compare the revenues and television deals.

Then come back tell us more about failing

Wasn’t long ago that the Clippers going for 2 billion was thought to be insane

I don’t know, making several million a year and then unloading for likely a couple billion if you ever want to and getting to say you own the Boston fricking Celtics seems pretty sick to me

Private equity firm owner? They’re gonna be renting the trademark rights to Larry Birds likeness to make an extra 250 bucks in profit a year.

Everyone knows the NBA is going completely and totally financially bankrupt in under 5 years

Chilsolm's alleged net worth before this was "only" 7.5 billion.

I believe the majority owner only has to own 15% in the nba.

You can have up to 25 owners with one person needing to own only 15%

He certainly owns a much larger share than that, but he has a bunch of other entities involved I'm sure and is leveraged to high hell.

Sports teams can be a pretty damn good investment. If I was a Celtics fan though I would be worried as hell that a Private Equity Bro is taking over. He isn't going to want to pay massive Lux Tax bills and will want to maximize profit, because that is the Private Equity mindset
