When Christina and Jackson Agar used to get a pizza, they'd polish it off the same night. Things are different now that they're both taking an obesity drug.

"We recently ordered a pizza and we ate some of it the first night and then the next day we had maybe a little bit more," says Christina. "And then we ended up throwing the pizza away because it had gone past the days that you could eat it. And it was so strange because we have never done that."

"No, never," her husband, Jackson, says.

They've each lost about 20 pounds in six weeks. But the Agars, who live in Minnesota, aren't taking Eli Lilly's Zepbound; their insurance doesn't cover it.

They're taking a cheaper alternative that contains the active ingredient called tirzepatide.

It's made by a compounding pharmacy, which is a special kind of pharmacy that's allowed to essentially make copies of drugs during shortages.

Since starting on the compounded tirzepatide, Christina says she has more energy for their four kids. And Jackson doesn't need his sleep apnea machine anymore. (In December, the Food and Drug Administration approved Zepbound to treat sleep apnea.)

"It is completely life-changing to take a bite of these triggering foods and just be like, enjoy it, say, 'Yup, that was good and now I'm full,' " he says.

But the compounded drugs the Agars and others have come to rely on aren't here to stay.

The FDA says compounding pharmacies have to stop making tirzepatide because the agency declared the yearlong Zepbound shortage over. The deadline is Wednesday.

Being a fatty is a mindset. It will be easier to identify them and put them in camps if they are forced to regress back to their natural state.

They didn't disappear altogether, you can still get them if you pay full price and get a legit prescription from a doctor.

But whether or not your insurance covers them is on you.

Just get diagnosed with diabeeetus and insurance will happily cover it. Some plans will charge only 30 dollars a month while some plans are 125 a month.

Also, you could qualify for some manufacturers programs that charge 25 or 30 dollars a month.

I remember when people used to say it is more complicated than eating less/less carbs.

Wait you can’t eat pizza two days after getting it? I should have died decades ago and I haven’t hit 40 yet. Do these people not own refrigerators?

You can buy it from a research lab supply and compound it yourself. (Add bacteriostatic water to the dried peptide powder in the vial) for a fraction of the cost.

Let me go check Walgreens for some bacteriostatic water. Is that next to the Evian?

Instead of championing good habits and discipline, we’re creating a generation of slaves to pharmaceuticals

This is sad

If they were fat enough to lose that much weight in 6 weeks, they could have done that with the South Beach Diet and no prescriptions. But no...had to keep ordering the pizza, then throw away what they didn't inhale.

Those 2 idiots probably aren't used to any food in their fridge lasting long enough to have leftovers, so they assumed it was bad if it wasn't hot.

Are you serious with this comment? You act like this just started? In the early 80's is when they pill culture really took off. Kid acting up in school, won't sit still? give him a pill. Can't sleep at night, oh here another pill. Any kind of a worry or concern? here another pill. How many of you ppl in here bashing someone for a weight loss drug are popping pills daily for stress or anxiety? No, I am not defending these ppl taking these weight loss drugs I am just pointing out the pharmaceutical route to deal with daily life has been going on for nearly 50 years it just didn't start.

And no I am not morbidly obese. Yeah could I lose a few, sure but I am 56 and do not take a single medication at all.

Probably a hot take here but I'm good with the government cornering the market on these drugs and giving them out like fricking tic tacs. Obese people are destroying the American health care system and the reason why my premiums are out of control. I go to the doctor once a year but I have to pay $380 a month because fatty Patty has diabetes, bad joints, a wrecked spinal cord, high blood pressure and pancreatic cancer.

I'll do that even one better- force feed ozempic into their mouths the way we give dogs medication.

Yea you say that but tell me how many pharmaceutical drug commercials you saw in the 80s or 90s or even the early 2000s.

Watching football games I counted 10 one time. You know that never happened back then.

While it's true the pharmacies have to stop compounding the single ingredient formulas, patients can still get these compounded GLP drugs if their prescriber wants it combined in the same injection with another ingredient such as NAD+.

Did you forget what board you're on, Tubby? You should know how baws handle stress. And we don't have "anxiety."

Not gonna lie. In my younger lower enlisted days I ate pizza that was two days old and I didn't have a refrigerator.
