I was across from the Crescent Condos yesterday eating lunch at BR Beach.
It seems like we were initially in high gear removing the stumps. I can't remember the last time I actually saw equipment moving or anyone out there working? Where are we with this project ? Is the Mayor administration onboard to get this project moving along?? It's beyond time to start seeing some progress. It looks terrible.

They are finding a way to ensure the PVC pipes are left alone

We need a study to determine where we are with this project.

No. The initial phase was supposed to take roughly two years, which will end sometime this spring/summer, I believe.

This was the last update on the site:

What's Happening at the Lakes?

Phase 1 dredging in City Park Lake and Lake Erie is nearing completion and landscaping of the newly created shorelines should begin early in 2025. Improvements to May Street should also begin in early 2025.

Phase 2A work is also underway, with dredging commencing in College Lake and University Lake. Phase 2A dredging is scheduled for completion in February 2025, with shoreline landscape installation to follow.

Phase 2B, which includes dredging the sourthern one-half (approx.) of University Lake, received capital outlay funding from the State and is expected to begin in early 2025.

ETA: Considering landscaping always waits until after the last chance of freeze, I wouldn't have expected to see it before now, but hopefully it starts ramping up here in the next couple of months to let the plants acclimate before full summer heat.

Well, they built a "beach" on Dalrymple. Other than that, they're still digging. It's kind of like the movie Holes at this point.

It'll be done before the loop gets done, or before Louisiana stops electing frickwits. That's all I got.

No we aren't. So much confident ignorance on display

On August 8th 2023 they said phase 1 should be complete by august 2024...why are they so off schedule?

If I recall correctly, last year's drought lowered water levels which fricked up the dredging timeline. Then the May Street part of the project didn't receive bids in the initial RFP, so I imagine that gave them a bit of breathing room to not push forward with the dredging when conditions weren't good for it.

They could easily make that area an outdoor adventure tourist stop with kayak rentals, pontoon rentals, etc.
Throw some small motorboats in that lake like they have at Disney.
