It's trade show season, and I'm looking for a new shoe to try. I have been wearing Clarks for a while, but they aren't doing the trick any more and my feet kill me at the end of the day.

I can get away with casual in this field, no need for dress shoes. I ended up wearing OnCloud shoes last week and they worked great, but they are little too informal to pull off for most shows, need a happy medium.

Any brands or specific styles I need to look at?

I have really high arches and find that my feet get sore after standing a while in the Cole Hahns. It really does seem like there's more market there for a company to make shoes that feel like a Brooks GTS, but have subtle, brown uppers. I've been searching for a while.

I've been wanting to try on a pair of Johnston and Murphy's, but most places that sell them won't leave you alone to it.

Someone shared with me a while back to get two pairs of different shoes and change them around 1:30-2:00. I tested this out and it worked amazingly well and still go this route today. The new round of On's are fantastic.

Sorel makes a real good one. Takes about 2-3 days to break in and then they are great.

I stand up in a classroom all day with cowboy boots. I think it helps because I have high arches. My feet don’t hurt at all at the end of the day.

If they were comfortable enough, but I haven’t found a pair I’d love to wear all day. These trade show days begin by 7am and goto til 6pm just in the booth or walking. I did +20k steps per day for a couple days at a show last week.

Shoe Station for J&M without people standing over you.

Also try Ecco.

I wear pretty high stack, max cushion trainers for most of my running miles and I wear Oofos half the time around the house. In other words, I enjoy a plush foam.

Cole Haan ZeroGrand, while not great shoes in any other sense, have a similar feel. They're great for what you're talking about. I'm a traditionalist, but I haven't really found anything like it so I put up with the weird look and pretty mediocre quality of CH generally.

I'll also say that while cheap feeling, I've had some pairs that held up well to lots of international travel miles without breaking down much. It's almost like the cheap, malleable construction helps in that regard.

To each his own but Johnston and Murphy is not the same as it once was and they are very overpriced for what you get.
