I remember trying to schedule a computer lab class every year in high school for 4th period right before lunch... just for these two days of the year.

My dad usually never let me skip school as a kid, unless the combine or March madness was on. It was generally understood that I would be “sick” on those days, at least that’s what we told mom

2009 LSU played Butler in the tournament during school hours. If you got caught with your cell phone back then, it was literally taken by the school and returned to you after you completed Saturday school.

This was a risk I was willing to take. My History professor, who couldn’t care less about sports, caught me checking the score. I knew I was in trouble. He told me to come to the front of the class…and announce the score to the class. Then told me to return to my seat and he would call me back up every 10 minutes to update the class. I wasn’t punished, and LSU won!

These are my favorite coming weeks of the year. I will have multiple screens watching NCAA tournament, and a few monitors so I can watch all the groups during the masters.

I’d check out and walk home. Literally lived 2 houses from my high school. Needless to say between regionals, ncaa basketball and lsu baseball, I’m just glad I graduated. Fun times with my dad.

Your dad let you skip school to watch the NFL combine? Wut? I can understand the NCAA tournament but the combine?

Computer, we didn't have clue what that really was other than what we were told. We couldn't see anything on the typewriters we were on those days. I had the old ones you had to hammer the keys down and then mid year got some electric ones and we were breaking those letters bc we were hammering them instead of touching them.

I don't recall ever getting to watch the tourney during school hours.

I do recall doing this whenever we had a sub and they would throw some stupid movie on which was better than work

We had a new school when I was in 9th grade. We had big screens in the cafeteria. SEC tournament and NCAA tournament they were on during lunch. Also coaches had it on their board while we did our work.

Usually the SEC baseball tournament is during exam week and when exams weren't happening, games were on everywhere.

It was not on TV like it is now in the 60's & 70's when I was in school. We did try to sneak little transistor radios in class with one earplug to listen to the MLB World Series.

In the 80's, after I started working, every year I took 1/2 a vacation day on both Thurs. & Fri., so I could go to a sports bar and watch the games. CBS showed the games regionally back then, so, if you'd moved away to Dallas, like I did, you had to go to a sports bar to see your favorite team.

I'd stay at the sports bar from 11 am to 11 pm some days. Different groups of friends and co-workers would drift in, and out, during the day. Sometimes I had to move from one waitress's area to another and start a new bill. Spent a lot of those days in Addison at a bar near the airport.

Would get home from school and then throw a bad boy like this on for end of afternoon games while me and the neighborhood friends played basketball at same time in the driveway:
