My dad died suddenly with fast moving cancer last week and I’m clearing things out. He has a bottle of Krazati 200mg that I was looking into. Long story short, it has a $23,000 price tag per 180 tablets. No, I’m not trying to sell them, but surely there is a way to get these to someone that is paying out of pocket and needs them. Is that legal if they’re prescribed the drug? That is a large sum someone potentially could save, or hell, maybe they can’t even start it because of cost.

Check local Catholic groups that provide medical assistance.

Yeah, just sucks. Could potentially help save someone’s life and I gotta toss them. Just doesn’t seem right.

when my stepfather died, i took all of his meds to the pharmacy he used...i don't see how they can be "re-used", but the pharmacist disposed of them for me...

There probably nothing that can be done with them except disposing of them.

Some drugs are custom formulated to an individual patient which adds to the costs.

I’m sure your parents didn’t pay that much; majority of drugs like that have manufacturers copay plans that result in very minimal cost if a cost at all, provided patient is commercially insured.

PS…very sorry about your pops. I lost mine to cancer 2 years ago as well.

No, he didn’t. He had already met catastrophic this year. But someone out there doesn’t have insurance or has a much higher threshold. But alas, it appears they’re just getting destroyed.

And appreciate the kind words everyone.

If you are still worried about the legality, this isn't a place for you
