Wut?

quote:

Be careful who you add to your lease.

That’s the takeaway from 1992’s psychosexual thriller “Single White Female,” a classic of squirmy suspense that featured Bridget Fonda as a freshly single Manhattan-ite who has the misfortune of picking a clingy and awkward woman (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to be her roommate while she recovers from her breakup. But because Hollywood loves nothing more than putting a fresh coat of paint of the cult classics, Sony and Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures are reviving the intra-apartment friction with Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in negotiations to star in a remake. No word on who will direct the film — the original was directed by Barbet Schroeder of “Reversal of Fortune” fame.

Should be a single black female, with a white room mate, and little by little the white female starts wearing blackface and weaves.

Maybe an exposition scene where Ortega clarifies how societal pressures have forced her to identify (and subsequently kill) as white.

Didn't realize this movie was big enough for a remake. And then they have non white leads for a Single White Female title? What?

I see.. maybe break the fourth wall of oppression or something, talk right to the audience. I feel like the scissoring scene should come immediately afterward, you know, to lighten the mood. Plus it shows how they used to be great roomies.
