The wife and I plus our 6 and 4 year old are going to do 28 days or so and looking for suggestions. We will be flying into Denver and spending the first 12 days in the suburbs of Denver visiting friends and family. From there we are wide open.

We have gone west on I-70 many times so I am thinking of taking our time to head north and then fly out of Bozeman. Initial thoughts were to spend 3-4 days in Steamboat Springs, then head north towards Yellowstone. That’s a 9 hour run so I would like to break it up with a 2-3 night stay over somewhere on the way. That would leave us just over a week in the Yellowstone area.

Thanks for any suggestions.

We flew into Denver, stayed one night in Golden to watch drag racing the next day. Drove to Estes Park and stayed 2 nights. Then drive up to Grand Tetons. Stayed 2 nights at Signal Mountain Lodge. This was worth the price for the view. Floated the Snake River. Then drove up to Yellowstone and stayed 2 nights at Old Faithful Inn. Then drove up to Canyon Lodge. Stayed 2 nights. Drove up to Bozeman and flew home. I think a total of 9 days to do that.

there isn’t a whole lot to see in that stretch of WY between CO and YS, certainly not 2-3 days worth. I’d plan on a one night pit stop and power thru to YS. You should plan on at least a couple nights in grand Tetons NP also

agree with this. would definitely add 2-3 nights for Teton. We like Teton more than YS.

Yea I should have been more clear, we are going to include Teton into the trip

The thought of powering through Wyoming to get north seems like the way to go as well.

Pinedale is a neat place with hiking and lakes behind the ski area.

Lander is cool also with a couple waterfall hikes nearby plus the drive from there to Tetons is beautiful. You go through Bridger Teton National Forest and over Togwotee Pass in the Absaroka Mountains.

Unless there is a specific activity you are into like backpacking, climbing or mtn biking, there isnt enough for 2-3 days at either place.

Grand Tetons. Not much else to see in southern Wyoming until the Teton range.

This. If you have the kind of time you're talking about, maybe go through Grand Junction or Durango and through Utah/SLC on the way to Jackson Hole. Lots of sights and things to do with that scenic route.

Plan an extra day or so in Bozeman, there is lots to do there.

Bit of a hijack, but same topic:

Anything I should look into doing near Island Park, ID that isn’t Yellowstone or Grand Teton? Will be there in July as well.
