Just got my first shotgun. Yes, going to get some coaching from instructor friends, but is there anything to get started on on Youtube? Thanks

Look up Leon Measure’s Shoot Where You Look System. Get a BB gun and cut the sights off and follow his process. There are probably similar programs out there and you can modify it with just using a shotgun and a mirror. Leon can’t get BB guns on the market that are up to his accuracy expectations, and he at one time had an instructional for sale on his work around with a shotgun and mirror.
With the BB gun training, you will save a tremendous amount of money on ammunition and will also save your hearing. You can get setup to do a lot of the work in your backyard or in a garage. You’ll also improve way way faster than by going to the skeet range once a month.
People will laugh at the process but it makes total sense and results in the proper foundation, so that when you do shoot clays or live targets, you’ll much more quickly put the pieces together.

Thanks. Got this one for home defense. Not really good one for hunting or skeet shooting.

I thought you were talking about how to lead and adjust for distance...
Point at object, pull trigger.

Don't forget the 00 buckshot.

I was lucky enough to take his class in Texas probably 20 years ago. It is very much designed for wing shooting, but you start with the sightless BB gun first to master form and seating of the butt properly.
Home defense you aim, wing shooting you do not. The gun becomes an extension of where you are looking not aiming.

Fit is very important. My dad bought me a Win model 120 youth which was way too flat for me as a kid, then an 870 which I had a tendency to pull my head off and overshoot everything. I did learn to shoot the 870/1100 though. But things really came together when I got my old A5.

Well, took a private shotgun class this morning. Got real comfortable with it. Used 8 shells. Despite the nice pad on the Mossberg 590a1, my shoulder will be sore tomorrow, hehe.
Instructor really liked it. Said much better than what the Sheriff issues to them. Probably getting one.
