Quality since Covid

My experience is that restaurants are rarely good since Covid. It just seems like it’s always a disappointing experience from a food quality perspective. If I want a good meal, I need to cook one at home.
Has anyone else had this same experience?

Incidentally, today is exactly 5 years since the 1st Louisiana COVID case.

Wow what a general statement and not accurate about all.

I would agree that expectations in general have to be lowered more often than not. I believe that many restaurants have lowered the quality of their food products during the previous three to five years in an effort to control costs.

It's true, eating out has become more of a social outing than enjoying a good meal. It feels like we are paying to hang out at a restaurant for 1-2 hrs instead of just going for a quick meal. The cost of overhead and logistics has skyrocketed. Finding employees willing to work is much harder too, much less willing to work for low pay. The only people willing to take on the risk of opening a restaurant want to make a ton of money. This means significantly higher prices for the customer, and likely lower quality and poorer service. This is a bad combination that was accelerated over the last 5 years. It's very noticeable that going out for dinner and drinks is usually not worth the price now from simply a food standpoint.

At what restaurants have you experienced issues?

We typically eat at local spots and I haven't really felt it lately. There was a time closer to COVID were it kinda felt like there was a downturn, but I don't feel that way anymore.
