119. Vanderbilt: minus-73

"Negatives: Ole Miss hasn't had a major bowl appearance since the 1969 season"

I guess they didn't take this year into account

I have to assume they only consider the Rose, Sugar, and Orange Bowl as major bowl games. The Fiesta is currenly a major bowl, but it's pretty modern. The Cotton Bowl was the other "major 4" back in the 40-70's.

Depending on how the probation years hurt us, the UF-FSU outcome should be interesting. Everything is almost identical in terms of # of top 5's, major bowl games, rankings in the AP. However, UF has more national titles and Heismans. The only other real difference seems to be in the rankings between 6-10, where UF has more.

# 7 behind usc, bama, notre dame, michigan, florida , miami ..not in that order. i think the 90's could factor us being 8 - 12, cant see fsu being ahead of us even with there success in the 90's

Guys, ya'll are thinking way to modern for these rankings. Florida State and Miami were crappy football schools as recently as the 70's - that's HALF of the time period of these rankings.

We're gonna be #10.

What if this was for baseball, LSU would have to be #1 or 2

If it were for baseball, USC would be #1 and Texas would be #2. LSU might be #3...

But remember, that LSU baseball was not good at all until Skip arrived on the scene. That was the 80's, right?

im not sure exactly which order it would be, but the top 3 should be Bama, USC, ND. gonna be interesting to see where Mich ends up.

Well, we already know that Miami is 10th from Pat Forde's article on black coaches today.

So that means I was wrong... We'll be 9th if we beat out Tennessee, 11th if we didn't. I feel strongly that 12-15 will be Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and Penn State.

Today, Arkansas was ranked 19th and Texas A&M was 20th. Pretty interesting considering the conversation we had a while back with an Arkansas fan stating that Arkansas was better than LSU leading up to the 90s...

I know this is kinda geeky, but I think it is pretty cool to see where your school lines up based on an objective criteria...

Everyone this is what I came up with for us missing a couple components...

National Championships - 3 (3 x 25 = 75 points)
Major Bowl Appearances - 22 (22 x 10 = 220 points)
Major Bowl Wins - 11 (11 x 10 = 110 points)
Best Win/Loss in Conference - 9 (9 x 10 = 90 points)
Final AP Top 5 - 8 (8 x 10 = 80 points)
Heisman Winner - 1 (1 x 8 = 8 points)
Final AP 6-10 Finish - 11 (11 x 6 = 66 points)
Conference Champinoship Game Bonus - 1 (1 x 5 = 5 points)
Final AP Top 11-25 Finish - 13 (13 x 4 = 52 points)
Bowl Appearance (non big) - 18 (18 x 3 = 54 points)
Bowl Wins (non-big) - 10 (10 x 3 = 30 points)
10+ win season - 9 (9 x 2 = 18 points)
Weeks as AP #1 - ?
Wins over AP #1 - ?
Consensus All-Americans - ?
First Round NFL Draft Pick since '70 - 19 (19 x 1 = 19 points)
Losing Seasons - 19 (19 x 2 = -38 points)
Probation - ?

Total - 789

Not sure how they will break down our probation. I found the page in media guide about 1st team all-americans but not consensus all-americans. No idea where to find wins over ap #1 and weeks spent as #1 in ap. I figure we will fall around #10 and #12 in the rankings and be around 825 I suppose as our total score.
