Catcher I’ve seen in a long time. He needs more work for sure I get it but He’s not blocked at least 4 balls tonite and 2 of them has scored ! He has got to do a better job of moving/sliding out and just blocking the ball than this back hand work he has done this year so for. Gonna need this kids bat

That's because most freshman aren't ready to catch SEC pitching. He needs work, but he's going to be very good eventually.

It’s not that hard to catch SEC pitching in practice to get ready for it.

I disagree with the notion he is just a freshman . His problem appears to be technique and lack of quickness. His glove is out of position often and his one knee approach prevents him from blocking pitches down. Brady Neal was better than this and he wasn’t good. I hope he can improve but unless technique changes I doubt it. JMO

I would take serviceable or average defensively at this point. He can definitely hit and that’s what makes him special. I’ve seen many high school catchers better than him defensively. He isn’t even good defensively for high level high school baseball. He has good arm strength from what I’ve seen, but his receiving skills are terrible.

What the hell are you talking about out? Who said anything like that?
We have several catchers. We also have Sec pitching that throws to them everyday. If you can’t be game ready from practice, then maybe you shouldn’t be playing in games until you are ready.

That’s right. So a freshman who was playing high school last year is better than a JUCO all American catcher.

Get the kid some professional instruction during Summer Leagues, and he'll be fine. His skills with runners aboard are very lacking.
