I get it, it’s difficult to lose your job due to budget cuts. I would like to know how many of you have been laid off or lost your job due to budget cuts where you worked.

The school where I work is closing at the end of the school year due to low enrollment, it is happening all over the country. My husband was laid off about 20 years ago due to the company moving headquarters out of Atlanta to Los Angeles , absolutely no way we were moving to CA, so he had to find another job.

My point is that people get laid off all over the country that don’t work in government, why are these lay offs of federal workers any different?

Probably, because we pay their salary.
Most are grossly overpaid.
Most flaunt their benefits, retirement, and job security to us.

It's totally rational to laugh at them getting their commuppance

It’s not. The private sector is constantly scrutinized from a budget perspective and cost cutting measures are always on the table.

This has never been done in the government, at least not for a long period of time. Why is one entitled to a federal job? Makes no sense and unfortunately this needs to happen.

Why? It’s a byproduct of cleaning up our government. It’s kind of a big deal.

Can you name 5 things you did on your job last week? If not, you should be fired too.

ETA: I guess you can’t. You’re fired!

After 4 years of unelected shadow government, a dementia addled president, and lawfare via leftwing judicial appointees, democrats are suddenly outraged over a WH appointee doing his job.

Have to wonder how many staunch Trump voters voted themselves out of a job within a month after trump didn’t put his hand on the bible but swore in.

And, mid to high level federal workers are not the same kind of job as Jimmy & Bobby’s Pressure Washing Service. A pressure washer could be laid off without much harm to America. Blow up the VA and the Social Security Admin and it’s a different story.
Elon is gutting federal agencies that he doesn’t even have a grip on what those agencies do for the American people. Gutting essential agencies.
Using a molotov cocktail where scalpel was needed. He’e hurting America while calling it “cutting waste” while maga dipshits defend the drug addled oligarch from south africa.

I'd say that it's a privileged attitude. Most of them I wouldn't put into the classification of elites.
But yeah. Those cushy, lifetime jobs, are closing up. It's a reality check most of them never expected. Thought would never happen to them.

You see a headline that 15,000 people were fired from Apple. It's lasts about a day.

You don't see Tim Cook go on shows for weeks calling people worthless.

I worked at a place that had layoffs sections at a time.. It was a bit nerve racking waiting for the axe to fall on your neck.. There was this gay guy that was a huge gossip and backstabbed a few people. He ended up getting laid off and he made a big deal with the crying. He made a scene.. Later some of my co-workers got together at a parade and we saw him and the POS ran away from us.. We just laughed and made sure he heard us...

I was told get the jab or get fired. I found another job and it has been a great move, but I didn’t run to LinkedIn to post about it, I just found another job.

A federal job isn’t a lifetime appointment, it’s a job, and there are a lot of companies in the science fields hiring. I’ve interviewed a couple of folks in the last week that were from federal agencies.

I’ve been saying. This is NOVA (northern Virginia’s) version of the plant or factory closing down. People are freaking out as if this hasn’t happened to hundreds of towns in middle America.

And they think the fed owes them something like jobs based on waste and bloat paid for by the nations taxpayers.

It’s incredibly elitist.

Nah, it is really an entitlement attitude... Also, the vast majority of these government employees have never worked anywhere other than government... They have not produced a single thing of value in their life...

Gee I don't remember it being elitist when people talked about laid off pipeline workers...

Or coal miners that needed to learn to code.

Then it was these were Americans Biden did wrong by.

I got the layoff / funding thing before. Yeah it sucks and yeah everyone knows it can happen, regardless of your line of work. The reactions are not different than when GM lays off people.

The problem is that Elon acts like these people are subhuman and the mongoloids around here celebrate the ruination of people's lives, even lashing out at veterans. It's straight up idiocy around here. These federal workers vote, as do their friends and families. All of this is going to lead to millions of additional Democrat votes in the midterms. There's been no attempt at a win-win solution and utter disrespect and contempt for federal workers is on display, especially here, 24/7. Recipe for huge Democrat gains in the midterms.
