I stopped watching cbb for a few years but started to get back into it this year cause i found success with cbb longshot parlays . Anyway i forgot how much i love watching and keeping up with this sport.

I remember the atlantic 10 used to get 4-5 spots every tournament only a few years ago with some teams having some legendary runs like vcu, dayton, and george mason. With the exception of fordham, duquesne, and richmond i recall seeing every team in that conference in the tournament at one point during the 2010s.

Now 21-6 george mason is barely on the bubble after half the bubble teams had terrible losses this weekend? Only one at large spot last season that would have been 0 had dayton won the tournament. What gives? MWC taking the spots?

In a non-COVID timeline, Brea is still in a Flyer uniform.

I'm sure the portal makes it almost impossible for those level schools to keep their good players around

John Cheney retired, Calipari went to Memphis, Temple got raided by the AAC, and Xavier got raided by the Big East

Schools like Richmond, George Washington and St. Bonaventure have had good years but have been unable to sustain them

Same thing that is ruining every other conference. Realignment

Realignment crushed it, but they are also a prime example of the types of schools that get wrecked in the new era of college sports. A bunch of schools without a ton of athletic money that have often punched above their weight recruiting wise and been a hotbed for young coaches to make their name.

The Missouri Valley is very similar and is also a shell of what it used to be

We’re not going to get many deep mid majors that can actually compete with anyone again. The players that would otherwise lead those teams will be playing elsewhere as upperclassmen

These programs have no prayer of retaining gems and will inevitably lack both talent and depth

VCU & George Mason’s final four runs both occurred before they joined the A10.

We have a shite Commissioner who doesn't care if the leagues gets better or not.

In the revenue sharing/NIL world, nonfootball conferences are all going to have a problem keeping pace with teams that have football helping their athletic departments and NIL collectives generate revenue and interest.

SLU screwed itself by going to a-10

they were ready for a bid to the catholic league, but so many of those schools got poached, and SLU was left with it's dick in its hand.

East Coast does nothing for their recruiting, in any sport.

What sucks is that the Big East grabbed Creighton, Xavier, and Marquette killing any chance of a midwest Catholic league.

SLU, Creighton, Marquette, Dayton, Xavier, Detroit Mercy, Loyola Chicago, and DePaul would be a nice league that could create good rivalries.

Let's go back to 12 team football leagues and 8 team basketball leagues.
