I’m about to purchase a vehicle from a dealer that is worth less than my truck.

The trade in value of my current vehicle is $47,000. I hoping to negotiate a price of $42,000 on the vehicle I’m purchasing.

If the above happens I know that the dealer will owe me $5K.

I’m writing to see, for sure, that i won’t owe sales tax. Who knows the answer to this?

You do not pay taxes if the value is greater. I traded two cars for one before and I didn’t pay taxes.

They will find a bunch of extra bullsheet to add 5K to your purchase, service plan, extended warranty, clear coat, dog proofing tires, hamster traps.

When you do this, do you get taxed the 5k?

If they do, see if you can get them to put Nitrogen in your tires. 5K should cover it and you will never have to fill them again.

I mentioned to a tire counter person that offered to charge me a metric frickton of cash to put nitrogen in my tires that the air in the regular compressors was 78% nitrogen already.

He kind of rolled his eyes and assumed the position that I was too stupid to understand.

Prepare to be disappointed by the dealer's actual offer.

Well he just heard you tell him you wanted 22% of your air to leak out your tire.
