2023 recruit - Gibson grew up 1 hour from Tuscaloosa yet had no ALA offer. Officially visited ARK and had offers from AUB, ARK, Georgia, FSU, Ole Miss, Moo State, Penn State, Oregon. Like many others who have entered the TP, Gibson is looking for the biggest bag. Wouldn't be surprised if Ole Miss and FSU have been in his ear

He can’t transfer to another SEC school, right? Maybe that has been overturned in the courts, but I have not kept up with the changes.

You're allowed to transfer from an SEC school to another SEC school.
You're not allowed to do that in the spring.

The blanket transfer restriction was lifted quite a while back, maybe even a decade ago. Currently, a player has to enter the portal before February 1st to be eligible to play in the upcoming season.

I think you are as long as you were in the portal prior to Feb. 1. If you were and had not transferred yet, you are probably not in high demand.
Of course, the player in question is not yet in the portal so...

He won’t be going to a sec school bc he will have to sit out a year if he transfers in the spring. If he would have transferred in the fall, he would be eligible to play this year.

Spring SEC transfers can go to any SEC school but they cannot play that year. They have to sit a year like the old transfer rule.
