You want to get the best players here and be the premier college baseball program and bus their arse 7+ hours?

Welcome to LSU Baseball! Lol

They’ve been flying to away games on chartered jets for years.

Normally they fly if it’s over a 6 hour drive

I travel across the country for business & see college teams on commercial flights regularly.

Not 3 connecting flights. Whole team spread out on 3 different flights.

On the TV broadcast last night they said it was 3 separate commercial flights.

That kind of makes sense since there are nonstop flights from Btr to Dfw.

But yeah baseball usually charters a plane.

Gymnastics took a charter bus to Tuscaloosa, baseball could absolutely have taken charter busses to Dallas.

Yeah but with there being like 6 direct flights from BTR to DFW everyday this is much cheaper.

I’m sure the charter makes sense if you’re going to Oklahoma, Tenn, Kentucky, South Carolina. Or pretty much anywhere not named Atlanta, Houston or Dallas.

Exactly, the cost difference was probably huge flying folks on 3 different flights vs. chartering. If the options are openly available to fly direct, no need to charter really because typically that cost difference is pretty big, especially for baseball where they are probably chartering a CRJ with a bunch of extra seats they dont need (smallest CRJ is 50 seats).

probably just took scheduled flights and it took three different ones to accommodate everyone and the gear

That seems odd if they are chartered flights

makes sense, I've seen them on scheduled flights before, and that makes sense, from a cost efficiency standpoint

I had a flight once (CRJ) with half of the Indiana baseball team, and was talking with the coach and he was telling me half the team was going through DFW to IND and the other half were on the CLT flight then connecting on to IND.

TV did say a bus was deadheading up to Texas with some equipment.
